Kaws • YSP Yorkshire Sculpture Park 2016, by burgerman on Feb 7, 2016 19:13:38 GMT 1, Agreed Chads and was interesting to note about how people used to write to him before instagram and the world wide web. The timescale for pieces to be constructed. Also that time he collected posters to bring back to the studio and were so wet to be unusable. Really useful to find out a insight into his work.

In the meantime, why not check out the little blog post I wrote about the show. I was lucky enough to be at the InstaMeet on Saturday morning, although it rained like crazy!

Regarding the interview being uploaded, I have no knowledge as to whether this is planned, but can say that the interview was filmed. Or at least I assume it was, as there was a person there with a professional looking film camera.

Kaws • YSP Yorkshire Sculpture Park 2016, by daniel3886 on Feb 7, 2016 23:20:45 GMT 1, Fantastic weekend all round. PV on Friday was great, I walked to the long side gallery taking in the outdoor sculptures and enjoying the rest of the park. Before getting to the gallery almost too late for the speeches. Luckily I made it in just in time. Great to see so much work multi disciplined work in a relatively small space. The finish on the canvas' is truly something to be seen, pictures just cannot do them justice.
Burgerman was easy to spot! good to meet you and a big thank you for all your info and help to me and everyone else.
The talk was one of the highlights for me. Clearly Brian isn't super comfortable in the spotlight, but I thought he relaxed into it (sound problems apart) and guided by Claire Lilley they gave an insight into some of his history and process'. The Q and A section was equally interesting and the longer Brian spoke the more I found myself enjoying Brian's 'quiet man' persona. It encouraged me to truly listen to what was being said.
Great to see Coach and a few other familiar faces and meet some new people and their +1's. Letiss very happy to provide some logistical support for you and Mrs L.
Last special mention goes to Jonty Wilde YSP photographer. We met at the PV he went above and beyond with help and advice on how to take the best photos of the outdoor sculptures. Total pleasure to meet him and lovely to meet someone who gave so freely.
I can understand the cynicism around the signing scrum. But Brian was super generous with his time all across the weekend, I don't think as fans we can really ask for any more than that. There is always going to be a small element who's motives are not Snow White. But seeing the likes of Coach and others get various items signed not only for themselves but others hopefully speaks louder than the small element.
See you all at the next one!

There was a sheet of A4 outside the talk yesterday saying 'company xyz are filming for sky arts etc and if you don't want to be in it then contact...'
It also said it is being made into a DVD

Got the book an exhibition guide signed. Wanted to get my poster signed but didn't want to take the piss especially as the signing wasn't organised as above!
Was going to put a request out actually - ic anyone got a spare signed poster they could sell please pm me and I'll cover cost and send something nice in return (and also give away my poster free to someone here). Thanks.

Kaws • YSP Yorkshire Sculpture Park 2016, by twist65 on Feb 8, 2016 0:28:46 GMT 1, Well what a great weekend that was. Made it a couple of hours before the talk so didn't get to see much before that, which was fascinating and as daniel3886 says he seemed to warm into it after the initial sound problems. Claire Lilley steered things really well and even publicly told him off for not answering emails! It really was great though, and I dread to think what time Kaws got finished signing whatever anyone seemed to put under him. The best part was today though and spending most of the day walking around - I thought the Kaws sculptures especially the 2 wooden ones were spectacular, and the Longsite Gallery worth the walk for the 5 large canvases alone. What a fantastic place in general though. Still have plenty of things to tick off the list. I think Sophie Ryders bunnies might be my favourites but there's so much to take in. Roll on some picnic weather so I can bring the kids!
