In general terms, I find Nick Smith's work gimmicky, and uninterestingly so.
That said, I would disagree with your comment about the recognisability of this piece.
It will of course depend on each viewer's reference points. However, what can be objectively stated is that, with the press coverage it generated, the original painting was the most newsworthy and talked-about Picasso during the whole of last month.

If this is the grey edition as in your pic you have the edition number wrong. These were released in 2 colours the initial run in white was a run of 200. The next run in grey as above was released a year later and was an edition of 1800. White and grey have a different part number and barcode on the wooden box and have slight differences in height of the base, hand and detail.

Sorry but for me what you write is not correct, yes there are two different edition, one in concrete grey and one in concrete white, the first edition was the grey and it was sold in Piazza Affari Milano during the "Salone del Mobile", i know because I bought mine in that occasion, edition 200 pieces, the white edition was the second, it was sold by LUISAVIAROMA, edition of 90 pieces! anyway, contact directly Seletti and ask them directly if what I say is true!
