Murakami x Louis Vuitton , by craigf on Mar 23, 2008 9:27:57 GMT 1, I could just about scrape together enough to pay for one of the Hilary tshirts, not that I'd want one. There are a few ppl on here with this sort of cash, but not that many and this makes the other Murakami on here seem to be as cheap as chips!

Agreed.. all 5 canvas, cost me a very shiny penny. I opted to keep only 3 of them and want to sell these two to help float my other 3. I got into a little bit of a credit pickle the last 3-4 months buying Murakami, Micallef and Banksy, so I guess I have to flip my Laker season tickets and anything to keep the flow going.

why would you have laker season tickets when the item location says NY?

Murakami x Louis Vuitton , by ikeamonkey on Mar 23, 2008 16:46:46 GMT 1,
I may be mistaken... but I think ninja is trying to call me out as a ticket scalper which has crashed this art world. Dissaproving of the methods which I emplore to keep paying for my art addiction.
If you care to rudely post my sellers rating, you should also post my buyer's history too. I spend way more (on art) on ebay than I earn: feedback.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewFeedback2&userid=ikeamonkey&ftab=FeedbackAsBuyer
Also note, that I don't sell anything I BUY on ebay to make a profit to line my pockets, it pretty much goes back to my art purchases on ebay (Micallef's Minotaur Weapon don't come cheap.
If you care to post my sell record, then you may want to post yours as well. There was an extensive waiting list at Copro Nason gallery a few weeks ago for Audrey Kawasaki paintings and you were lucky enough to purchase one. If you were a true benevolent fan, then you wouldn't sell your original work for profit a 2k profit and just sell it for cost+shipping/gas and give it to a true Audrey fan.
So we should call you Pot if you call me Kettle.
Also, as some people on this forum already know, I'm one of the biggest sneaker collectors in the world, with over 1000 pairs rare kicks... I own Lakers season tickets... and I love video games... and have a bigger collection of Murakami artwork than most people under the age of 30. So please don't imply that I don't love art and stricly resell for money. I've spent more money in the last year on art than most people make in a year.
So if that's a problem for me to sell what I am familiar with to make some extra change to support my habits/lifestyle, so sue me. At least I'm honest about it. I don't try to hide my ebay name with a different message board name.
I just have the tact to call it as I see it and not try to post other people's ebay sales to waste people's time on this forum. I would just simply state: "he's a reseller and doesn't care about art" <--- at least I could have saved the time of replying to your poorly disguised undermining of my sale post.

Very fair question, since there seem to be questions about my intentions. Please reference people who know me personally: theS**t, Moses and Jamesmith77
Without exposiing my personal life too much. I am a consultant and I travel between LA (where I grew up) and where I currently work... NYC and Wash DC. So my Murakami's are with me in my pad in NY.
Any more cross examinations?
JonVespa, you have a right to question me, but did you also reconcile by recently purchased items with what I sell? I don't resell my ebay purchased art items. In fact, my Micallef Minotaur weapon and Paris Hilton CD are currently getting framed and I'll post up pictures when they come back from the framer. (Oh, and can't wait to get my Jack and Jill Signed from a member of this forum either!)
JonVespa, I see by your avatar that you like Murakami also. I know peeps who know peeps at KaiKaikiki... if you're coming up for the exhibition opening let me know, I'm going to the press night and may have an extra pass for a "photographer". =)
You too Ninjadude... we can discuss how to get you on the VIP preview list so you can buy an original, so you can flip it for a quick buck...
The latter was a joke, please don't pay for a ticket to fly to NYC... as Murakami originals start at around 200,000 nowadays.

Murakami x Louis Vuitton , by Filipino Box Spring Hog on Mar 23, 2008 18:41:41 GMT 1, I don't in anyway need to back ikeamonkey up as I think he's done a fine job of both explaining and defending himself (which by the way, I don't believe is something he should have had done), however, I sold him a Dalek print under cost a couple of weeks back - he called me somewhere around 12:30 at night from a hotel as he was in between cities for his job and we spent nearly an hour and a half talking art - he's as genuine as they come and passionate about what he collects as well - those of you who choose to bust balls in order to puff yourselves up should keep in mind this Easter what Christ said about letting he who is without sin cast the first stone - When I do dive into the Murakami boat, which I've been eyeing from a distance for the better part of the last 4 years - I know who I'm going to for advice - ikeamonkey is a man of his word and wanted you all to know I stand by him.

I'm not sure how well they'd sell in the UK due to the LV branding. I agree they're at great prices compared to others I've seen on sale though... good luck dude

I like much of Murakami's work, but would rather have the "Jellyfish" print of Afroken's than this very rare and expensive piece on my wall. Personally I find it extremely pretentious and not very interesting to look at. However, it should be echoed that these two pieces appear to be available for a very fair price, for what they are.
Good luck with the sale to our trans-Atlantic friend.

Be that art in the street,, from artists who also work in the street, or any other art. Just because someone has a Banksy in one room, any reason there shouldn't be a Monet in the other? I bet Bradd Pitt and Angelina Jolie don't much care for 95% of street art or it's message either. Come to think of it I don't much care for a lot of it either! Sh!t, I'd better get my jacksy off this forum eh!

I believe they were US $8,000 if you pre-ordered them, or 10k if you bought them later.

Murakami x Louis Vuitton , by ikeamonkey on Mar 25, 2008 19:38:09 GMT 1, Hey Guys,
To be fair to Ninja Warrior... I actually got a personal message from him to clarify that he didn't mean to really call me out. (I guess everyone has their down days... he understood the Easter blast.) So we're all like 3 little Fonzies...
Thanks for all the support on my sale. I'm glad some people noticed that I wanted 17,000 for one and not 63,000 that some others are fishing for. I'll keep my fingers crossed though. Most member of the board seem to be supportive of the spirit of capitalism in pursuit to further our love of art.
As for others who had questions about this canvas let me answer:
5 leather canvas' -Brown monogram - cherries -White Monogram - Large -Black monogram - Large -White Monogram - Mini -Black monogram - Mini
retailed @ the LA MOCA murakami LV Shop for $6000 initially (after tax its almost 7000) Then Canvas' retail jumped to 10,000 (almost 11,000 after tax)
There were 100 of each made. They were hand signed and came packaged by LV in official LV cases. Also included a certificate of authenticity by the MOCA in LA x Murakami x Louis Vuitton each one of course is individually numbered.
I was lucky/stupid enough to purchase the set of 5. So now need to part with 2 to make sure the credit monster doesn't ruff me up too much. ;D So if you know Paris Hilton and she wants these and a copy of her CD (worked on by Banksy), be sure to send her my way!
Cheers, T

Murakami x Louis Vuitton , by angryboy on Mar 28, 2008 10:00:10 GMT 1, I'm a fan of Murakami and would love some of his works... these ones just don't do it for me though... I'm not sure how well they'd sell in the UK due to the LV branding. I agree they're at great prices compared to others I've seen on sale though... good luck dude
Totally. I generally love his work but these do nothing for me.
