The UK's EU Referendum - 23rd June 2016., by Zippy on Jun 3, 2016 11:22:20 GMT 1, Sorry Coach I never saw your post as I have not bothered reading all the posts. I am not wanting to get political on an art forum but it seems odd.

The UK's EU Referendum - 23rd June 2016., by Zippy on Jun 3, 2016 11:23:32 GMT 1, We get heated debates about Stik prices and Eelus releasing a set of PPs in an edition of 4. But a 'political' banner appears and not many speak up??

I only commented when someone else mentioned it. I only view the forum on a mobile, so can't see the banner.
I also would be interested to know whether "Leave" have asked for the banner. If they have, have "In" been offered a banner too? If the two campaigns know nothing of the banner, for balance, should there not be a banner for both campaigns (or neither)?

The UK's EU Referendum - 23rd June 2016., by chads007 on Jun 3, 2016 12:16:16 GMT 1, It's a bit shocking that he's allowed that...but he is a 'vote leave' supporter and maybe the fee was too good? Not art or gallery related advertising either, so a bit bizarre. Not seen any non-political forums which such biased advertising.

The UK's EU Referendum - 23rd June 2016., by Daniel Silk on Jun 3, 2016 13:12:55 GMT 1, I thought this forum would be unbiased but I see there is a 'vote leave' banner. Is this a 'paid for' banner or a donation from daniel Silk ? I've previously said that I think that banner on this forum is of great concern. Why is it of "great concern"? If you see a banner of a Gallery or Artist that you personally don't like, does that make it wrong or biased?

The UK's EU Referendum - 23rd June 2016., by Deleted on Jun 3, 2016 13:37:55 GMT 1, If we had more banners they would be cheaper. Personally I don't care if there is an IN or OUT banner on the forum. Or about the in or out campaign as long as both sides tell the truth.

Because it's a political banner, not an art one. It gives the impression to visitors of this site that this is where the political sympathies of this site lie. For balance there should be a remain one too. Did the leave people opt to take and pay for the banner?

I agree that it shouldn't have political sympathies. But the inclusion of the leave banner suggests that it does.

The UK's EU Referendum - 23rd June 2016., by Daniel Silk on Jun 3, 2016 15:11:23 GMT 1, Did anyone watch the sky news Cameron interview last night?
I dunno, when you watch his face and body language I just don't believe he is really saying what he honestly thinks. It feels like he has been pushed into supporting Remain coz he is the PM and that's what he should be doing in that position.

The thing going through his mind will most likely be he doesn't want his government associated in any way with the negative economic effects leaving will most likely bring.

The UK's EU Referendum - 23rd June 2016., by Harveyn on Jun 3, 2016 16:13:33 GMT 1, But that banner hasn't appeared out of the blue, it is your instigation. My personal opinion doesn't stop you having a Remain banner up on the site if you want. Just as your or my opinion of the Artists or Galleries with banners doesn't make any difference. Dan is this a one off concession based on the significance of the event?
I am guessing so or are you saying that anyone who wants to pay for a banner can do so for any political movement/subject they wish or indeed any non art related business. I hope its not the later as that will be a complete minefield.
Though I would add given the low level of traffic related to politics on here and indeed the relatively low level of traffic full stop compare to the quantity of people eligible to vote its amazing that someone has paid for this even for one month. Fools and their money!!!
If the out campaign thinks this is a wise way to spend their budget to promote their cause then it probably tells me why I am not convinced by the financial rationale they use to exit.

Of course more Art related banners are preferred but with many people viewing this type of Art as being related closely to social and political subjects then that's also ok with me. Im mean your not gonna see adverts for Viagra or anything like that

Well I am just glad no campaign money was wasted......
Lets hope Dan your not approached by political extremists (WDL etc) for some virtually free advertising. In the meantime I will let the UUP/DUP/SF etc know as they are probably stupid enough to think this would gain them some traction in a political context.
