The UK's EU Referendum - 23rd June 2016., by Deleted on Jul 1, 2016 11:12:36 GMT 1, Was Farage on coke when he made the speech in the EU?
I bet a few in that chamber took a snort or two before the session.

The UK's EU Referendum - 23rd June 2016., by Daniel Silk on Jul 1, 2016 18:08:02 GMT 1, I get the feeling the EU referendum result is being used as an excuse by a lot of big businesses If you think of cost cutting, downscaling, making people redundant, moving you factory abroad for cheaper labour, now's the time to do it without a negative affect on your share price. The Vote leave gets the blame and the company bosses walk away with a clear conscience.

Yep, can you believe George Osbourne just used it to cover up the fact that he was never going to make his target for for budget surplus.
Oh and also to (at last) walk away from Austerity (hopefully). Apparently all of a sudden things are now bad enough that spending money will create growth after all.
If you made it up, people would accuse you of lying!

The UK's EU Referendum - 23rd June 2016., by iamzero on Jul 1, 2016 19:44:47 GMT 1, Like the banking crisis has been used to keep wages and budgets down for the last few years. Convenient way for bosses to make a few quid while telling workers times are tough.

Or........ Inward investment will diminish and economic uncertainty will effect businesses. Branson has just announced that his investment that was going to create 3000 jobs now won't happen. Who knows whether this is genuine, or as you suggest, it's being used as an excuse. But I do know that a workforce is a company's biggest asset usually, and they don't tend to make the workforce redundant if they are needed. Analyst on radio 4 today said we simply won't know how much investment would have happened and now won't.

I think that the figure you quoted is so high that it cannot be true. It's considerably higher than even the most pessimistic figures quoted for potential job loses in the UK. I've tried researching this, with no success. If it was a reputable estimate, I think it would have been reported. It doesn't sit comfortably with this review from the FT

The UK's EU Referendum - 23rd June 2016., by iamzero on Jul 1, 2016 22:39:09 GMT 1, Stories are always likely to be dismissed if they're not printed in the paper that we choose to believe. Personally don't waste my money on any of them. I see Merkel with her bully boys and empty threats quite tiresome. Looks like the UK has called her bluff and is happy to take a chance. About to find out if the barking dog of the EU actually has any teeth. I have my concerns like everyone else but I think things will work out just fine.

The UK's EU Referendum - 23rd June 2016., by iamzero on Jul 1, 2016 23:11:59 GMT 1, Or maybe elistism. Snobbery. Establishment. People that look down on others. Bullies. Education or intellect doesn't make someone automatically right. I find it amazing that a lot of card carrying socialist that like to promote freedom of speech and equality love to look down on others in the name of intellect. Some of the most well educated people I've ever met happen to be some of the dumbest people too. But that's only the opinion of a working class lad with only one degree.

The UK's EU Referendum - 23rd June 2016., by iamzero on Jul 2, 2016 0:14:13 GMT 1, I've said it before Coach you are one of the most reasonable people here, it's a shame others have to result in snide remarks instead of listening to the way others may see things. A very descent member sent me PM recently and said we more likely have much more in common than we do that divides us. It was a very welcome message out of the blue and proved to me that we can listen to someone's opinion and maybe disagree but we shouldn't fall into the trap of name calling and falling out about it.

Education and intellect doesn't make someone right, constructing a well thought out case, based on factual evidence rather than subjective opinion does help though.

The UK's EU Referendum - 23rd June 2016., by crank on Jul 2, 2016 11:18:26 GMT 1, Can we please all stop pointing out that the FTSE 100 is up to use that as 'proof' that the economy is fine. The FTSE 100 is mainly made up of foreign companies taking advantage of a weak Pound. The FTSE 250 is a much more broad and accurate barometer for how out money is looking right now.
Te governor of the Bank of England, Mark Carney, has said that the BoE is prepared to pump £250 billion pounds into the economy as a emergency measure, has warned of a looming recession and has said that the outcome is 'bleak'. He is a far more astute and clever money man than I will ever be and I would say more than anybody on here. He has no reason to put any 'spin' on anything so I believe him far more than any 'snippets of facts' coming from the pro Leave camp. The fact that Farage criticised his outlook shows just what a snivelling clueless little shit Farage is.
So to recap:
Pound has fallen
Racist attacks up 500%
FTSE250 has nose dived
Boris has effectively done a runner as he never wanted to leave.
UKIP now have a bigger toehold in uk politics.
Mark Carney predicts major problems ahead.
Scotland very like to have 2nd referendum and split the union.
Spain trying to grab Gibraltar in joint sovereignty. For the first time ever Gibraltar are actually considering it.
Cornwall, one of the UK's poorest regions, demanding the £60 million a year the EU gave them.
Several large employers considering moving HQs abroad
Tatar Steel deal fell through due to uncertainty of Brexit.
Savers will be hit hard when interest rates get cut.
But, hey, none of his matters as we all 'took our country back' and 'made Britain great again'
