Agreed, so many nice items here, but nothing that justifies the prices being asked. While I love D*Face and his body of work, I don't ever see the value in these holding or increasing.

As someone who really likes D*Face I hate to say this, but his work really can't be compared to a couple of the artists mentioned, some of those artists have crossed over into a different realm of art collectors and the pieces they're producing are original and timeless. For the prices being asked, I think I'd much more prefer a Paul Insect original from his latest show, they really have so much detail and I can definitely see them being looked back on in the future and still holding the same admiration. I just don't see people looking back at this work in the future, or it ever being celebrated in museums. Just my opinion though, not trying to step on anyone's toes. I've always considered D*face, Faile, Bast, and Paul Insect in their own category in terms of investment value. Theres no doubt that they have all significantly contributed to the street art movement, but I don't know if any of them will necessary go on to museum accepted artists that are appreciated in the decades to come. I hope I'm wrong as I have a nice little Bast and Faile collection myself, but I personally buy those pieces because I love the art and knowing that they probably won't be crazy valuable in the future. I do think that KAWS is one of the artists aside from Banksy to have been fully accepted by the art elite and I believe his work will appreciate in a similar fashion to Haring in the future.
As a big D*face fan I really wish him the best with this show and hope he continues to grow in popularity. When it comes to the prices, I think its all very overvalued. Thats not necessarily a bad thing, but I think there a strong cohort of collectors that would be eager to buy an HPM in the $2-$4k range, and he may be turning them off by seeking out a richer audience for his work.

I sort of agree! I expected it to be a bit more rough and ready almost - more (happy) accidents and genuine tests...more like his old studio! Obviously a curated exhibition but just feeling a bit more like the process......so, who's going tonight then?
