Banksy's Santas Ghetto Bethlehem, by reados on Dec 11, 2007 20:55:13 GMT 1, What they have released so far make their Banksy prices look like a bargain. I would have considered the Bast but could not justify the price. Their banksy prices are a bargain
even with the high prices its still a bun fight, i prefered the bun fights when the prices were more reasonable ie 70 quid, now you get something in your basket and think do i really want this, i just don't get any tubes through the door anymore

Banksy's Santas Ghetto Bethlehem, by ctc2 on Dec 11, 2007 21:02:58 GMT 1, Their Banksy prices are a bargain relatively speaking but with the weak dollar, those of us in the U.S. have a little harder time of it. You guys in the U.K. are really lucky to have such a great scene right now. Hats off to you.

it will be interesting to see if the BANKSY release prices get inflated as well...it would not surprise me a bit if the days of the 250 quid u/s print are long gone.

Banksy's Santas Ghetto Bethlehem, by Backpack Punk on Dec 11, 2007 22:08:25 GMT 1, I really doubt you will ever see a banksy at less then 1k GBP after the L.A. series is done, and I am talking about the U/S versions.
I think most of the releases have hit a fair market value for them so I am not too upset with pricing.
I was able to pick up a K. Brookes Thai Terror and Bast Mickey though I wish I was able to get the colored Mickey instead.

Banksy's Santas Ghetto Bethlehem, by ABC on Dec 11, 2007 22:09:34 GMT 1, Its all been crap so far. Well not to my taste anyway - don't neg me for my opinions.
Why oh why is this selling out madness still going on - flippers take a look at Micallef for a quick guide to losing money.
I've read shed loads of threads and posts on this place and there are only a hand full of full on Bast fans from what I've read (Nu being one springs to mind) So why did these sell out in nano seconds when the image is a crap Mickey mouse (Sorry nu). Anyone??
Rollins - Are there any 3D prints coming out? I loved his last one and regreted not buying one.

Is our 'scene' that great? To be honest in this country i'd only say that Banksy, Neate, Cyclops & Sweet Toof really produce work that astounds me. All the money seems to come through the UK, but i'd suggest that probably causes more harm than good.

Banksy's Santas Ghetto Bethlehem, by Natas on Dec 11, 2007 22:49:17 GMT 1, Nothing yet as the prices are too high and nothing that has really taken my fancy. But its great watching the Ghetto site and seeing the scramble. I'm amazed like everyone else that prints that would usually hang around for a while and being snapped up. I do think a lot of silent watchers are holding out for the Banksy but I think that they may be surpised at the price. Double price increase on Trolleys? I would love to see Banksy roll out a ยฃ200 unlimited unsigned print which will hopefully give every one the chance of hanging a Banksy on the wall and boosting the year end profits for POW at the same time....And curbing the flip brigade. I personally will be watching ebay and laughing at the flippers making a loss.

I agree, but not ยฃ200!!
remember they used to sell ltd Banksy screen prints for ยฃ35 and with a high edition costs would be lower.
I would reckon between ยฃ50 and ยฃ100 for an unlimmited screen print.

What good cause would that be? POW's bottom line I'm afraid...

Banksy's Santas Ghetto Bethlehem, by Keeping It Council on Dec 12, 2007 1:37:44 GMT 1, Was really close to taking the Bast piece but I had to step back and think for an edition of 170 (100, 40, 30) I couldn't justify it! If it was a smaller edition I would have snapped it up though Bast is one of my favourite artists around at the moment! ;D

You're kidding right?? All money is going to kids in Palestine. The artists, and PoW aren't making a dime from this.... or is that only from stuff sold in the Palestine store?? Hmm.

It's been discussed elsewhere many times but the consensus seems to be as follows:
Only money raised from the sale of items in Bethlehem will go to local childrens charities. Nothing from online sales will be donated to the cause.

Banksy's Santas Ghetto Bethlehem, by dave313perry on Dec 12, 2007 22:51:24 GMT 1, Iv bought nothing so far....reasons and observations!!!....
My observation is that most people who have been on the scene for some time havnt bought as much as newbies have, not judging anybody in that what so ever, just an observation!
not seen anything that takes my fancy
Aiko - dislike the images although the Edition number, hand finishing is cool and decent value, not my bag though, but neither is the previous stuff, a little overpriced if anything IMO
Bast - again semi-decent prices and hand finishing etc - but bland and unimagionative imagery IMO, i like the fact its rustic and 'outside the box' but i just dont find the content compelling or imagionative myself.
Blu - iv yet to buy a Blu print, i just cant see it translating to paper, such a fantastic street artist, my pick of the year btw! shame the edition isnt a little lower, i wouldnt have bought but i bet many more would have.
Eric the dog - am i right in thinking that eric il cane and eric the dog is the same thing??? never taken much interest, until that Sam3 and eric il cane piece! the donkeys with tied tales WOW f**kin WOW - i think thats ace! the prints however leave alot to be desired for me, just dont get it, really quirky and i can however understand how some people would like them.
Faile - Typical faile imagery, just ok for me, ยฃ400 not ok for me! there seems to be alot of interest around faile at the minute which im not sure where its come from, LAZ probably with his auctions, their work has indeed taken a step up in recent releases but i cant bring myself to spend that kind of money on a faile...suppose abit like buying a $3500 banksy when you bought all the rest at ยฃ75. maybe it was my bad taste passing up on originals for under a grand a year or two ago, but i dont regret it!!
Kelsey Brookes - the most reasonably priced IMO, its a fair few prints that have been sold saying that and i expect many of these to be put back on ebay at a loss! cant understand these flying off the shelves and other recent releases at a lesser price, stronger images, more limited editions sitting on a website for a while. oh wait i can - its the ghetto effect!!!!
I still think the best is yet to come! anyone spent out so far is going to regret it! not much chance though unless you have endless time on your hands...bloody students! Sorry il leave now im rambling

Banksy's Santas Ghetto Bethlehem, by BME on Dec 13, 2007 0:55:34 GMT 1, Some nice pieces but nothing has inspired me to actually take the plunge. I never cease to be astounded how quickly the stuff sells out. I mean it's still possible to buy BAST originals (on paper) for US$900 so why the rush for prints at 200-350 quid? 400 quid for a signed faile from an edition of 175 is okay but makes the 65 quid for the unsigned marmaid on the POW site look pretty damn good- and no-one is rushing to buy those.

Banksy's Santas Ghetto Bethlehem, by melmoth on Dec 13, 2007 5:02:11 GMT 1, Picked up the Faile. As someone who is into comic books, it appeals to me a lot, and is a lot more, well, straightforward than some of their other efforts.
I am hoping to be able to get the Banksy, but I am very interested to see how the 3D and Paul Insect prints turn out. The originals that they have on display at the Ghetto look very good, particularly the 3D pieces.

The experience you will gain will be far more than a nice print and seeing and bidding on some originals in the ghetto... seriously.. just go. This shit needs to be seen. I know I have slated POW in the past for various things, but what they have done here gets a huge amount of respect.
Dont believe the hype- its not a raging deadly war zone and you are more likely to get shot in hackney. The people are the friendliest you could meet and will welcome you with open arms, and they need your tourist money.
Oh, and Israel is crammed full of hot women...especially those on national service... must be the uniform ;D
I have loads of pics- but these two stand out for me i think: This one was the roof lining of our taxi doing a tour of the pieces on the wall... its blood splatter and was also on the parcel shelf. We didnt ask any further...I think it speaks for itself....
As does this picture . Piece by AME72.
picture removed as i dont want to share it any more
Loads more pictures to come tomorrow, all of which tell their own story.
Huge shout to Ian, my companion on the trip and also to benya and his mrs who we ran into out there.
now what are you waiting for.... GO.
ps- As of today there were less than 3 trolleys left, and 'some' flags.
pps- if anyone needs any info then just ask...
