although that one paper reported they will release "reprints", and unless they are mistaken (which is very likely) it would make good sense for it to be toxic mary

Banksy's Santas Ghetto Bethlehem, by scottd007 on Dec 9, 2007 19:55:52 GMT 1, I was traveling with Als - just thought I'd add that we encountered some problems when we got back to the airport @ Tel Aviv. Our taxi driver was questioned as to where he had picked us up from and he had no choice but to say that it was Bethlehem - this set off all sorts of alarm bells with the ever-so- slightly "cautious" Israeli security services. We were detained/interrogated for approx 3 hours whilst they established that we were who we said we were and had not been up to any naughty stuff whilst in the West Bank - It was not a pleasant experience. In conclusion, I would suggest that if you do visit "Santa's Ghetto" (and if you can, you should!) you should not come straight back in one taxi from the Check-point. Go to Jerusalem first & take another taxi from there. Then LIE THROUGH YOUR TEETH and say that you have only visited Jerusalem. It will save you a lot of grief!

yep well added scottboy, if you cant lie, then be prepared for the delays. We were quite lucky also we gave ourselves plenty of time to check in, etc, they dont give a shit about delaying you, and if you miss your flight, they will say, tough luck.

thanks for the +1.
the ghetto, is/was nothing what you expect, as I said earlier, the art is so much better in the flesh, not that they are not good on the site, but they are more impactful when you can see them, plus there are so much more in the store then online. The guys at the Ghetto are ready pleased that people are making the effort, and when I mean people, I mean art people, not just the journalist.
The store was busy, with a mixture of people just visiting out of curiosity or because they travelled there. You wont see any Israelis making it, as they are not allowed into Bethlehem. Palestinians thing its a great and are loving the efforts, they appreciate what the objectives area.
The guys in the Ghetto are saying lots of things, about lots of different things, different artist come over each week and do more work and are in the store just milling about.
They are expecting quite a few more people other there this week and next, it finished on the 24th December, but the prints are selling.

I got a Banksy Trolleys'. No I didnt meet any artist, they had just left, missed Paul Insect and Sam3. I did have a cheeky bid, but not saying what. The link to the Flickr does work, just copy and paste the entire url.
Keeping asking questions, dont worry about it, its good to share this stuff with others, gives a nice perspective on what the purpose of the trip was.

Banksy's Santas Ghetto Bethlehem, by fallenangel on Dec 10, 2007 2:20:16 GMT 1, you'll regret saying "keep asking Q's" ... I know no limits... although it's late, so time may be on your side...
So how much did the trip set you back?
whats your trollies like?
Dont suppose they told you when the other colour trollies would be posted to us?
Was Dora from POW there?
Do you feel they have achieved their aims?

Banksy's Santas Ghetto Bethlehem, by cannaebefannied on Dec 10, 2007 10:11:32 GMT 1, Hi Well it was a long journey, but I and a few friends are now back from Bethlehem. Yes we went to the Ghetto and was it a journey worthwhile? In short Yes it most definitely was. We flew out Friday night, got to Bethlehem Saturday morning, getting through customs was okish, they will ask you why are you visiting Israel, UNDER NO CIRCUMSTANCES DO YOU TELL THEM YOU ARE GOING TO BETHLEHEM. Simply say "Tourism and that you are going to Jerusalem". Cheers for that, heading out on friday ! Getting there is relatively easy as you would have read in previous threads. I wont tell you how badly the Palestinians are treated, or how poor they live, and the impact the wall has, because basically I dont think unless you are there, can you get a comprehension of what it is like. For me, it was a very humbling experience. We were chauffered around by a very friendly, accommodating man, who looked after us for the entire time we were there. We were taken to local places to eat, drove around the entire wall, so you get to see all of it, drove us through the refugee camp, arrange taxi's from Bethlehem back to the airport. I will post pics of my journey and of the Ghetto later. So what did we see, we saw it all, what was SG like, fantastic. We saw pretty much all of the artwork, as more were put on display, including 2 new Micallefs. There are still prints available of both Trolleys and Flags, you will be given a choice, its either the Trolley or the Flag, so you wont be getting both. See the sights, take in the locals, see the wall, spend time talking to the locals. You will find the experience richer and more worthwhile. For those who are hesitant in going, dont be, go and enjoy

Banksy's Santas Ghetto Bethlehem, by gozgoz on Dec 10, 2007 13:58:54 GMT 1, Why can't u say u are going bethlehem?
I asked the customs lady not to stamp my passport and to stamp a card but she ran out of cards so I was walkin around without any stamps.
I also told them I was going bethlehem for an art exhibition.
I had no problems at all.
