Banksy's Santas Ghetto Bethlehem, by Pattycakes on Nov 24, 2007 14:06:43 GMT 1, I reckon almost definitely there won't be a Banksy release - not right after the Trolleys, perhaps the new Failes will be what they'll be selling, they did mention them in the mail out, that they'd be next.

I hope for my sake that Festival doesnt get released so i can at least have a CHANCE at purchasing one at some point in the future.

Banksy's Santas Ghetto Bethlehem, by melfeasance on Nov 25, 2007 2:53:19 GMT 1, "WC" actually stands for "water closet" - from the days of converting closets to accomodate that newfangled invention, the toilet. Bonus points: the word "crap" comes from "Crapper" - one of the first toilets manufactured by a man named John Crapper. And what's all this got to do with Santa's Ghetto?

Banksy's Santas Ghetto Bethlehem, by stereoface on Nov 25, 2007 18:49:32 GMT 1, If "Festival" is released at Santa's Ghetto will POW hold any prints for sale online? I just really want to get that one up on my wall and am hesitant to book a ticket to London when (1) I dont know if SG will be there; (2) I do not know if any prints will be released; and (3) even if a print is released I cant be sure it will be festival ...

They kept some of each print last year, but the bay is your best bet as the ghetto is generally flipper paradise with big queues and no guarantee that you will get a print, especially the one you are looking for. Sit back and save your flight money to buy one of the multitude of flipped prints from the bay. The majority of prints will be sold in a single sitting ( if the past is any guide) and be straight into the flippers flippers, and on the bay within the hour. There were few left for POW last year, about 20 or each, so virtually impossible to snag online from POW. If you aint there on the day its the bay, swap or nothing..... But if you have money for a flight, save it and buy a guaranteed print.

Banksy's Santas Ghetto Bethlehem, by mammal2 on Nov 25, 2007 19:25:04 GMT 1, POW are pretty good about offering dates for the big releases eg Banksy, Micallef etc, so if they do you will know before hand when and how much! I would not worry too much. If they release festival, which i doubt the first 150 (or more) or so will be signed, and the rest unsigned which would be some serious camping! If I were them I would release an all new Banksy like Flag. Edition of 1000 again. The Bethnal Green image as a 1 metre high print would be ideal. If your listening POW! I really cant see them doing the last of the LA run. I really think these will be next year! Bulls**t I know! Unless they are all unsigned with longer runs. Oh, I dont know. For all we know the Ghetto may be in East Timor. Would be alot safer than camping with a load of nut job flipper and their whole family. Also crack heads jumping the que! bah! Oi Oi

What would be nice to see is some good looking afforable art by some new faces!

Banksy's Santas Ghetto Bethlehem, by jerometurner on Nov 25, 2007 20:16:44 GMT 1, from a personal standpoint, i hope there are no banksy's. there will be a lot of flipper's at SG i'm sure, and for the prints to fall into their hands kinda defeats the purpose of the whole thing. if they make festivals and sale ends available, i hope and pray they will leave more than enough for an online sale so everyone will have a fair shot at snagging some prints that would actually be framed and not flipped the next day.

Yeah, i would like to think they will push the boundaries a little and not just stick with the failesafe regulars... and hopefully it wont turn into a Mic/Laz type scenario... Good luck to everyoneplanning on getting involved.
can someone give me a quick run down of last years as i really didnt take much notice mainly because i was in a strop that it was in London!!! lucky gits! - im not up for the initial scraps and ques but how long is it generally open for, is it likely to be open on the weekend following the opening???

Banksy's Santas Ghetto Bethlehem, by corblimeylimey on Nov 25, 2007 20:44:13 GMT 1, Last year it was open to within a few days of christmas eve, the opening day had nothing special to offer and was packed, releases were spread across the month pretty randomly with little or no notice, they did start to write a list on the blackboard but without dates, eventually they put some dates up, sometimes the dates were only announced with a few days notice. Luckily they announced the Banksy Flag details so I made the trip but it was in the back of my mind that I could have got there only to be told it had been changed.
The Banksy Flag was released on Dec 18th and the doors opened early at 9:00 for that day ( I think normal opening was between 10:00 & 11;00am), according to the till and credit card receipts I finally made my purchase at 10:00 or 10:11 depending which receipt had the most accurate time on it.

Banksy's Santas Ghetto Bethlehem, by themightyreds on Nov 25, 2007 23:26:51 GMT 1, I went a few times last year as i only work a short way from where it was. First day wasn't that bad as i remember... i do remember wanting to buy the shadow Kid print but they weren't on sale then... Another time i went in because i was waiting in that area for someone and had a nice quiet look at the show, plus had a couple of cans of beer and a game or two of the hoop-toss. Got to say i hope this years is just like the last one!
