Banksy's Santas Ghetto Bethlehem, by stuey09 on Dec 4, 2007 0:14:25 GMT 1, What are people's thoughts on traveling in through Jordan rather than Israel? Any positives / negatives to this?
Why would you want to do that Mike?

If you want a holiday, then its a fantastic idea. If you're looking for an easy way to get to bethlehem, then its a terrible idea!!

Banksy's Santas Ghetto Bethlehem, by richyno1 on Dec 4, 2007 1:44:17 GMT 1, As my dear friend Richard just mentioned, I have Iranian (as well as UAE and other middle eastern country stamps on my passport).. Having an Isreally stamp is something I CANT be dealing with, as I am going to New York for new years and definitely cant get into USA with an isreally stamp. (fingers crossed the iranian issue wont get worse over the next few weeks! eek!)

Banksy's Santas Ghetto Bethlehem, by kiy on Dec 4, 2007 2:55:15 GMT 1, My brother spoke to one of his friends today about traveling through Jordan. It is possible and easy to get into the West Bank through Jordan, especially with a British Passport. Its not cheaper or a shorter route but maybe quicker. When I checked today tickets where around ยฃ470 to Amman (return).
I am thinking of flying to Tel Aviv, staying in Jerusalem and then traveling to Amman by road spending a couple of days site seeing then flying back from Amman.
Should point out that Bethlehem is not in Israel, its in the West Bank...

I know I will be stopped and questioned in Tel Aviv.

Banksy's Santas Ghetto Bethlehem, by pezlow on Dec 4, 2007 10:26:47 GMT 1, I've made the journey from Amman back in to Israel albeit a few years ago. It's really not too bad. Definitely doable. Jordan's a great place too - really friendly people. We got stopped on the streets loads of time by people just saying "Welcome in Jordan". You can go to Petra and Jerash (roman ruins) also worth a trip. The red sea resort in Aqaba is great for diving/snorkelling and much more chilled than Eilat.
