Thank you mate. He's hoping to do a foundation course when he finished at school. Then art at Uni. I am, naturally, very proud.

Funny you should say that. We went to the open day on Saturday. Very impressive. Also got the opportunity to take in the student's degree shows. There is some sparkling talent there. But early for decisions at the moment. He's only in the lower sixth form, so he has a further year at school and then a year Foundation course, before Uni. What was clear is that Goldsmiths is not at all easy to get a place at! Thanks for the kind words. I'll pass them on.

Haha, yeah I read your comment on the car thread All of the top Art colleges in London are hard to get a place at, but you gotta be in it to win it! It makes a massive difference getting in to a good London college as to where you studied on a foundation course. I'm not sure where you live, but if your son has to live elsewhere for a year to get on a good foundation it will be worth it. From looking at his work you've posted here, I think he could pick and choose a course anywhere. Also the foundation course is very intense and he would need to put his social life on hold for a while

8Mail, by Coach on Dec 2, 2016 21:46:47 GMT 1, 8Mail was chosen to represent his school in a county wide art exhibition at our local university. This was his piece. It's huge. Those that remember the minors strike will be familiar with the shocking source image. Personally I, whilst admitting exceptional bias, think that he has captured movement and mass in the horse particularly well. Once again, thank you in advance for indulging a doting father's pride.

8Mail, by kember on Dec 2, 2016 22:40:59 GMT 1, Love this coach, the simplicity of extracting a moment of violence from a situation that is more often than not depicted in its entirety is a skill in itself. I would personally say that the only place it falls down is giving the man on horseback an identity, he's captured the anger on his face well, but sometimes leaving the identity a mystery speaks volumes as a theme of 'authority' as a whole rather than an individual.
Great work again.

Hi doc. I do believe he did it with charcoal and white chalk. It's big. Maybe about 5 feet tall. Ish.
