Wow that’s great info, shygetshigh83! Did a little research myself - looks like blu isn’t doing anymore prints for a long time. Possibly longer than Banksy ever will.
Just watched the dvd again. Keep forgetting how leagues ahead blu is compared to most artists discussed in this forum.
He paints stunning huge detailed murals as single frames in his minutes long animation. The mind boggles.
I’ll let mine go for 5k. Hahaha.

Sold framed never examined out of the frame and 120£ of postage for Europe, I don’t like this kind of listing. Sold in a tube and I can give more than 1k for a WWT

A good result in my opinion.

Although there are many people trying to pump up prices for pesonal interest, BLU is much less sought after than what is believed.... completely self excluded from the art market and thus hard collectable by the ones moving big money.

Scarcity of works make them more pricey but....considering such scarcity a VERY sought after piece of art would have fetched a much higher result.

That said, I like his work very much and consider him a great artist.

This my personal preference, taking into account print and edition size + representativeness of the artist main works/themes (excluding special editions, honestly not that interesting, and etchings) from most to least desirable:

1) - rennes (ed.150, 70x94 cm) - gaza strip (ed.100, 90x55 cm)
2) - headquarters (ed.150, 75x56 cm) - world wide trap (ed.250, 50x70 cm) - demos (ed.130, 100x70 cm)
3) - cmyk (ed.250, 70x50 cm) - monkey (ed.250, 100x70 cm)
4) - funeral (ed.250, 70x50 cm) - nulla (ed.160, 42x50 cm)

The only reason his prices are moving up is because his work is rarer to come by now at decent prices and he s not making more for sale (officially). However he is becoming less and less relevant and less active in the streets - so I doubt many more new collectors would want a Blu - especially with his prints being so much less good than his street pieces. Its becoming somewhat of a niche thing I feel.

Full disclosure: I m a fan and have recently bought a Monkey for under $1000 US, but i m not sure one should look at his work as an investment....

I would not look to art at all for investment purposes, especially not "Urban Art", as barring less than a handful of artists, I consider the entire genre to be very niche.

As for Blu's relevance, he's still painting outdoors. He did 4 awesome murals last year, which is more than I can say for some other artists for whom the forum has a collective hard-on for. To me, the volume of output doesn't matter. I'd prefer the artist wait until they have something to say.

To me, Blu is one of the greats in the genre. He excels at placement, overall execution and message. If those who are new to the scene are ignoring Blu's body of work, I think they are doing themselves a great disservice.

As for pricing, who knows where it goes from here. From my vantage point, I've seen interest in acquiring his work increase significantly from where it was a year ago, when I had difficulty selling a Headquarters for cost.

As a data point, it appears a hand-finished Rennes sold for quite a lot at the end of 2017:
