Banksy • Wrong War • Pax Britannica , by craigf on Jul 13, 2008 9:11:27 GMT 1, Last time I saw it it was still only around £4.5k (from memory). I guess the seller pulled it as they thought it should have done better?

This doesn't look right to me, the only Happy Choppers I've seen that were given out at the demo had yellow bows, and were on an angle, also the Chopper stencils are different. What do other people think?
Link to ebay item here.

Banksy • Wrong War • Pax Britannica , by James Smith 77 on Jul 28, 2008 18:48:41 GMT 1, 99% of Banksy street art sold on ebay without any prov is 100% fake. I wouldn't go near this if it was $5.

Banksy • Wrong War • Pax Britannica , by gerry on Jul 28, 2008 19:02:51 GMT 1, All kinds of wrong that thing. Look at the way the stencil on the start of 'wrong' and at the end of 'war' has ridden up and gone smudged, shoddy work. Doesn't exactly look like a piece of cardboard that's been through one of the largest demonstrations of recent times either does it?

Iteresting point regarding the spray on the "W". I would imagine these would have been sprayed onto new/flat cardboard when originally made by banksy. Then creased and bent during the demonstration and over the course of 6+ yrs sitting in someones closet.
Alternatively, this one has obviously been sprayed onto cardboard that has already been bent and creased resulting in the spray on the "W".

Banksy • Wrong War • Pax Britannica , by baileymontana on Jul 28, 2008 20:33:07 GMT 1, Saw similar ones to these for sale by two different sellers recently. It was very suspect to me as they were both selling two of these each.
I noticed that these "two" sellers had sold art to each other and left feedback for each other but both at one point had been selling "different" Happy Chopper Wrong War's with similar descriptions. In fact the descriptions were similar to above.
Maybe a huge coincidence that 5 of these have appeared in the past few months by 3 different sellers but I think as James said 99% of stuff on the bay like this is fake (possibly 99.99%). Too many Banksy stencils available to buy for a few quid that allow people to do this.

Banksy • Wrong War • Pax Britannica , by baileymontana on Jul 29, 2008 10:28:33 GMT 1, I have a small sprayed Banksy from around 2000 with a good paper trail on how I got it (I don't want to say what it is on a public forum with the way bootlegs for Banksy stuff are at the moment). Pest Control told me that although authorized they cannot offer official authentication as it "was not made as a Banksy work of art, it does not receive a Letter of Authentication". For me although it would have put the value up high for the piece I think Pest Control's position is fair.

Banksy • Wrong War • Pax Britannica , by baileymontana on Jul 29, 2008 12:00:52 GMT 1, Yes hopefully in the long run people will realise that the "Banksy's" on cardboard and road signs on Ebay are officially worthless without official authorised street photos of the pieces or paperwork.

Banksy • Wrong War • Pax Britannica , by craigf on Aug 31, 2008 16:24:02 GMT 1, I corresponded with the seller on the piece and it all looked fine. It didn't make reserve a week or so back at £1,450 max bid. I had expected a bit more of a last minute flurry of bidding, but there are real bargains out there at the moment and this may be one of them ;D

Banksy • Wrong War • Pax Britannica , by weaver on Aug 31, 2008 16:27:43 GMT 1, Watched it go, second highest bidder. There have been a few outside the pax set sold, a couple were broken up in the beginning, I got the steadmans from someones set a few years ago. Lovely piece, slight issues with the seller having several mistakes in their advertised item ( stating signed when unsigned etc..) but blamed turbo listing and changed ads when pressed. They have a few interesting pieces to sell, so might be worth keeping an eye out, on the flip side, you have to wonder about a seller who is willing to let pieces like this go at such a low price, the wrong war itself was seeing about 5K not too long ago, too good to be true? they have been selling a few pieces in the last few weeks, but have no feedback showing in the last 3 months.

Thought it was someone else I know bidding and didn't want to push it up for them by putting in a sneaky one

Banksy • Wrong War • Pax Britannica , by mcnuts on Aug 31, 2008 17:33:21 GMT 1, well his signed J&J sold for £3k and a very nice Sickboy canvas for £265. Honestly, some amazing deals but i just had to go with my gut and not bid. Cant afford to be burned but hope it goes well for the buyer. VERY lucky if it turns out to be true.
