firstly, it is a good image of a worldwide 'moment'. romantic but not sycophantic. Also happens to have an extra personal resonance as I got to see 'the kiss' for real - i live near Victoria and wandered up to see the fuss and found myself 3 rows from the front at Buck House when they call came out on the balcony. [i'm no royalist, far from it, but you've gotta love a big free event 10 mins walk from home!]
second, its a great price, scrub that...a really great price - cheaper than a banksy tesco poster on ebay
third, its a signed, numbered emin print. I now have a signed emin print, and i didn't have one before. When people ask what i have in my collection I can now include "oh and a signed emin". snob value - a little, but very good value snob value!
fouth. Although i have no plans to sell it, if i ever do need to raise funds (or do a trade) it is an image that has a world wide audience, both the subject matter and the artist.
1000 may be a large edition size, but there must be over 1 billion people in the world know about this wedding/kiss. Thats pretty good edition/awareness ratio!

i think you are spot on here, and there is no shame in any of these reasons, i'm sure they are shared in full or at least in part by many of the print owners. particularly share your views on point 4.

The Independent probably flipped the print image so it looked more correct, but obviously they haven't done the same when they've made these reproductions of the original.

The prints are shipped via Royal Mail Special Delivery, so will arrive before 1pm the next day after posting. There is a backlog of orders to be worked through and further prints for the artist to sign when she is available, so we anticipate delivery to be within the next 10 days. As soon as your print has been posted you will receive an email with a tracking number.
