Well, agreed, like many sculptures and most installation art, it's clearly not going to be exhibited in an average house. That doesn't effect the quality of the art though.

She has been scraping the barrel for the past decade at least- rehashing the once original angst and affected self pity into a rip roaring commercial success. she cant draw to save her life, but more importantly, this was never the secret on emin - she has grown fat and smug in her life ( not literaly fat or smug, but you get what I mean )

You may well be right Albert. I must concede that when I look at and enjoy Emin's work, usually in books, I tend to be looking at the work she did during the YBA period and in the years that followed. Not her more recent work.

ditto Hirst I suppose - its easier to sell the brand that it is to sell the actual art is some ways
and yes, I am long a couple of Hirsts. so there is no reason for me to talk it down - my only ever true purchase meant only for long term capital appreciation

Because I'm rather brassick these days I don't really tend to look at what's available to buy by way of editions. Perhaps that's why I still tend to think of her more favourably.
Same with Hirst. Thoroughly enjoyed the retrospective show in London a couple of years ago.

I think there could well be some truth in that. Perhaps also some artists have a desire (quite naturally) for positive criticism, and so there may be a temptation to recreate something that has been successful in the past.
