Does anyone have any WCP (West Country Prince) Banksy prints they are looking to sell? 

This subject raises issues mentioned many times on various threads including here. But given the fluid nature of the forum's membership and different people always joining, it seems fair that the points be repeated every few months or so for the benefit of new members.

My own view is that West Country Prince should not be allowed to use the Urban Art Association to advertise his knockoffs. I also find the open resale of these fakes highly regrettable, especially on this platform. One would expect a forum largely centred around Banksy's work to be more sensitive to the artist's own position, and to the broader interests of creatives more generally.

Buying a print by West Country Prince involves a moral choice. It means buying into a philosophy and position of principle. When making a purchase, what you're saying is that it's fine to openly support the freeloading, parasitic behaviour of intellectual property thieves.

If you cannot afford an official Banksy artwork, there is a happy alternative: Reproduce the work yourself from images available online. Thankfully, it can be done cheaply and in reasonably good quality. A win-win scenario.

What's more, Banksy himself has encouraged this approach. He's made a clear distinction between:

(i) the non-commercial personal use of his images, which he supports; and
(ii) the unauthorised reproduction of his work for commercial sale, which he discourages.

To anybody who's a long-term member of this message board, the West Country Prince discussion will certainly be a tired one.

But for reasons mentioned in the first paragraph of my earlier post, it's a discussion worth repeating — including at each WCP release, and especially when a new member brings up the topic (as was the case with Not 4 The Thril). They might not have been privy to earlier exchanges. And they don't necessarily know their way around the forum well enough to seek out and find relevant old threads.

Your position is comparable to a professor frustrated about the same questions always being asked by students. This Groundhog Day-like experience may be painfully tedious for him. He therefore needs to keep in mind a crucial point: Although these questions are repeated and debated year after year, the students actually asking them are always different. Each term, it's a new group of faces arriving in class, with zero knowledge or previous experience about the subject. That calls for a certain amount of leeway and patience by the professor.

In addition, there's a separate matter for me. As with so-called backdoor prints, the sale here of unauthorised knockoffs produced by West Country Prince is not a neutral topic. It raises integrity concerns in relation to the forum.

Under these circumstances, I believe it's legitimate to continue arguing, in the same way many would with other ethics-based issues.

The idea is to encourage members who are oblivious, on-the-fence or indifferent to consider or reconsider their positions. Over time, this may lead to changes in perception — and perhaps even a slow shift in the culture of this forum regarding what is or isn't acceptable and defensible.

I would add £8k - £10k onto that figure, maybe a bit more
