England vs Iceland, by Lroy on Jun 27, 2016 22:59:35 GMT 1, I wrote this on my Facebook ! " Well well well, it was nothing against you my britt mates, but I bet 20 Euros with my kid - I won't ask him something - that Iceland will beat England ! Why ? Because , a team that put the shame on the Portugal and its pretentiousness Ronaldo in their first match, can only be a great team ! They play football with heart legs and feet. Rooney and Kane - incredible - were so bad ! Well, mind your arse Frenchies, Iceland can beat you too ! The finale ? I am for Germany but Itslia impressed me. France won't win the cup anyway."
Even Jo tweeted back a tweet about wank players..

England vs Iceland, by Deleted on Jun 27, 2016 23:19:14 GMT 1, Anyone who has played football will know how shambolic Roy's tactics were. We play with practically two wingers (Rose and Walker) that are supposed to be full backs. That's fine if you have two covering holding midfielders that can screen. What happened this evening was we had one in Dier who was pulled out of position and for some reason, Roy thought he was poor and subbed him. What he should have done was bring on Milner or Henderson to help Dier control the game. Sturridge and Sterling are not disciplined enough to track back and again left huge gaps in midfield for Iceland to exploit. These are such basic tactical mistakes that I just don't buy it that Iceland played well, it was just utterly inept tactics from Hodgson. And incredible arrogance to think we could just steam roller them with four strikers.
We also learnt that Rooney is not even a Championship level midfielder and there's a good reason why he spent a long time on the bench of a pretty average Man U team last season.
Hart - so out of form. Forster is IMHO overall the better keeper but doesn't play for a Big 4 TM team so won't play in a knock out game as the FA will only pick big names. What did Vardy have to do this season to have been an automatic starter?
Positives from this tournament for England? Maybe Dier, who is someone I really rate and that's probably about it.

you forgot the death of Bowie ( rip ) ... What a sad and terrible year ! 16, the number, for superstitious gamblers, is not a good number. The devil one. So what next ? New attacks ? Be all United , we all love you and we will never leave you. Anyway to come back to football, I did not see great teams on this euro ... They don't play enough offensive , and there is no real scorer. I like Boatang, what a player, one of the best !

Letisss very well put and I agree the tactics were horrendously wrong. I would also add that whilst Iceland were not fantastic they at least showed they had mastered the basics of the game.
Poor tactics are not an excuse for players who under very little pressure could not find their teammates less than ten yards away. When they did manage that extraordinary skill of passing the ball accurately over a short distance more often than not the recipient failed to control the ball. I lost count of the number of lazy abject passes that went behind the player thus loosing forward momentum.
As for over hit crosses well it was embarrassing.

England vs Iceland, by Reader on Jun 29, 2016 20:04:50 GMT 1, Bobby Charlton was asked how he thought the England team of '66 would have fared against Iceland. " I think we'd have won 1-0 " he replied. "Only 1-0?" Said the reporter. "Yes," said Bobby. "Most of us are in our 70's now!"
