Don't tell me, you forgot you had one, bought this one then realised your mistake when you got home and saw your framed real iraqi diners one on the wall!! You people make me laugh. If your in it for the money then fair enough, but dont all keep going on about flippers this, flippers that when you and many of the other 4 or 5 star members of this forum are flipping flippers themselves!! ;D

I would like to think we all like the art we buy, but for some people flipping is just part of the game. a way to finance an expensive habit such as collecting art!

Markets for artists would self perpetuate themselves all the way to point where the arse will fall out because art collectors with money won't want to buy crap. These artists wont be able to stay in the current price range for long because people will have no faith in them. Quality will always win.........I think ;D

If everyone on this forum were honest with themselves (or at least honest whilst posting on this forum), there would not be half the current interest in Banksy or this whole street art movement if it were not for the fact that their art collctions are increasing at a rate far greater than that of their properties or inflation!
The fact that the pictures also look good framed is a bonus.

There'd be less than half the interest for sure.. as there was just 18 months ago.

Beejoir π¬π§ LV Child β’ Imodium β’ Colour of Money, by mose on Aug 7, 2007 19:19:55 GMT 1, Just realised that Shell do not actually have any operations in Iraq!
kidding?
Shell has positioned themselves to be one of the biggest players in Iraq, especially in the wake of their overstating of reserves.
news.independent.co.uk/world/middle_east/article2132569.ece
"The US government has been involved in drawing up the law, a draft of which has been seen by The Independent on Sunday. It would give big oil companies such as BP, Shell and Exxon 30-year contracts to extract Iraqi crude and allow the first large-scale operation of foreign oil interests in the country since the industry was nationalised in 1972."
www.wsws.org/articles/2003/mar2003/oil-m18.shtml
"In 2004, Shell recruited an Iraqi external affairs officer to help the company gain access to Iraqi government decision-makers, specifying in their advertisement:
βA person of Iraqi extraction with strong family connections and an insight into the network of families of significance within Iraqβ.(26)
Through these means, the companies aim to be well-positioned when it comes to the signing of contracts."
www.globalpolicy.org/security/oil/2005/crudedesigns.htm
Oil companies covet Iraq's oil wealth, and are pushing for access to it through production sharing agreements
1. A right to oil reserves. Companies want a deal that guarantees their right to extract the reserves for many years, thus ensuring their future growth and profits. Furthermore, they want a contract that allows them to βbookβ these reserves β including them in their accounts β which increases their company value. Production sharing agreements, like concession contracts, permit companies to book reserves in their accounts. The importance of this should not be underestimated for the oil majors. In 2004, when British/Dutch oil company Shell was found to have overstated the size of its βbookedβ reserves by over 20%, it lost the faith of the financial markets: this impacted heavily on its share price and credit rating. Shell is now desperate to acquire new reserves β which is a key reason why Shell has made more effort than most to make friends in Iraq.

Its precisely because companies such as Shell are up to their necks in Iraq that the friggin' A/P your trying to sell is called SBFO. Glad you're up to speed on your products.
