I am really going to show my historical ignorance, but is the guy Clement Attlee?? It doesn't look like Chamberlain, who would be a better candidate for the comment "lies": peace in our time etc...
If it is Attlee I don't really get it as he took over from Churchhill after the war.
I actually like the simplicity of it.

Hate to disturb your dream but since the 'Stolen' show earlier o in the year when his prints were selling for selling for silly money (SBFO 125 ยฃ6-700 when release price was ยฃ125) they have been on a downward spiral (SBFO 125 lucky to get ยฃ220).
That includes prices on turin scam, LV childs etc etc.

I think reason for that was that SoS were quite quiet for last few weeks but lets hope the quiet time is now over

the newsreader is reading the news on the night that the Hiroshima bomb was dropped. i have to say that when i first saw this a long while ago it didnt do much for me. but now i love it. so if anyone that doesnt like it stays away then i may stand a chance of buying a beejoir at cost for a chance.

If your looking at it from a money point of view didn't the LV's only cost 35 quid? The Shell on Real money 100 quid and the Turin 50 quid? From my point of view not many prints fetch 5 times their original value on the secondary market even with the price slump that we are having at the moment, Banksys were going for almost double the prices they are now during the same period 6 months ago.

In this age of stupidity people judge things on the price of flipping, I'd love to see someone make it really big, either another POW/SOS/BRP artist thats been flipped to death, just so I can hear the flippers weep that they once sold one a week after they bought it for only twice the price they paid for and now its worth 10,000 pounds.

Beejoir ๐ฌ๐ง LV Child โข Imodium โข Colour of Money, by nacional on Nov 23, 2007 16:36:50 GMT 1, Don't the two go hand-in-hand. As I was always taught, you can't separate the artist from his work.
This doesn't mean that we can't appreciate art, any art, without prior knowledge of the artist and his/her context, but if we are aware of this context it will inevitably inform our understanding of the art which will per se deepen our appreciation of it. Or, indeed, our loathing of it.

Nice one... agree 100%. A pretty picture on your wall is only one part of it IMO. In fact, looking around my house, there's some fucking ugly stuff on the walls. so in some cases, the pretty picture aspect of art is maybe only a small % of why we appreciate some of the stuff we do.

Beejoir ๐ฌ๐ง LV Child โข Imodium โข Colour of Money, by nacional on Nov 23, 2007 18:33:53 GMT 1, But the Beejoir piece cannot be removed from its context as I'm now aware of the context. I can't undo something that I know. Also, it has universality: I thought it was one historical character, Bongo thought another, turns out it was neither, or both, or none at all. The fact that Beejoir sent it out with reference to a specific occurence does not mean that it is restricted to that occurence.
Anyway, once art has been produced it is out of the hands of the artist and belongs to the public who are entitled to interpret it as they like.
Knowing what Beejoir was getting at informs me but I can take that information and either ignore it, add to it, or do what I want.
Blah blah blah

Both of which may add or detract from one's appreciation. But that should be true of all art. For me pieces that make me contemplate the reason for their existence can be the most rewarding of all, even though they may have first appeared to have little to offer. Imagery should only be a one element of what a piece of art has to offer. IMO.

I still believe they were stronger images than this one, but I can now appreciate it more

I agree that SBFO and TS were much more powerful. Lies is a little less obvious, but none of them have the depth behind LV child which is a class piece of work.
