If you see a nude reclining female in an old master painting it is usually a Venus, there are many of this ilk but Velazquez's is a fav of mine. im a art history geek so im happy to share info about the classics.
if i could own any banksy it would be one of his "retouched" old masters. I would love to see each of the originals alongside Banksy's.

Me too!! I'm a big huge fan of detournement. I got some oil painting repros of Banky's "remixed classics" for that reason... they'll probably never stop plummeting in value, but I love them to bits nonethelss! His ideas are so hilarious and ingenious and well-executed! My favorite by far is his take on Monet's waterlily pond. Absolutely brilliant!

I commissioned mine from a group of artists from Hong Kong... just sent them a high-res picture and voilá! A real oil painting! Here's one of them:
As for the quality, I don't have *such* high standards, and I'm very happy with them. They do pretty good work, I think. If you want to get in touch with them, send me a pm and I'll send you their email address directly. They're a very friendly bunch and very 'customable', i.e., once they finish a piece they'll send you a high-res picture and if you're not happy about anything they'll change it until you are.  The closest I can come to owning the real thing (at an affordable-ish price!)

Thanks They tell you what size they'll do it on, but I'm pretty sure if you have a specified size preference, it won't be a problem As for affordability, I said "affordable-ish" because it wasn't exactly £9.99  This particular one it cost me around £90, but that's together with insured shipping (which is very fast). It's not horrendously cheap, but personally, I think £90 for a oil painting repro (not giclée) isn't bad at all... especially since there's no official prints available, and the originals cost an arm, a leg, your first born child, and his/her arm and leg ;D

heh i knew i shouldnt have said i know some stuff! actually that one has been annoying me, i definately recognise them from somewhere, and i would assume it was from a renaissance piece.. i am going to do some google research now and see if i can find anything...
nope. doh, although it seems likely to me that he has used a classical type, rather than "copying" a specific painting, they definately recall religious figures in classical paintings. I will have a look in some of my art books and see if i can find anything. im afraid this isnt my area of expertise! ihavent really used my brain since i graduated so it will be nice to do some art historical research!
