I just wonder if Kidult really knows something regarding the creation of Ebola or if he's using Ebola because it's in the news right now and it rhymes with Cola.
I don't for one moment believe that pharmaceutical companies wake up each morning and start deconstructing viruses and bacteria simply out of the goodness of their hearts. They're profit driven. Which is why they patent each and every tiny thing that they can. They protect both their investment and future profit. The drugs are useful though.
You can see why people are naturally suspicious of these companies though. If I can't trust my mechanic to fix my car without making up some s**t so he can sell me something I don't really need, how am I supposed to trust big pharma? An industry that sees profits increase by vast sums of money when people get sick (or believe they are about to).
This mechanic thing might just be my paranoia though.

You do realize they are not going to paris here, they are going to a country and a part of the world where infrastructure is severly lacking and military engineers (25% of those being sent) are hopefully going to be doing just that... Setting up infrastructure.
also, all military personnel undergo training on how to operate under biochemical attack conditions.

As far as i understood it they were sent there in order to enforce quarrantine zones, and protect facilities and supply lines, in addition to setting up communications facilities and training centers. HIV, SARS, Swine Flu, Avian Flu. Only recently, stories were circulating that Avian Flu was a weaponised version of the Spanish Flu. The UK government spent ยฃ600 million on Tamiflu, which has since turned out to be not needed and would have pretty much useless anyway. With evidence to suggest that its ineffectiveness was concealed by the manufacturers.
They like to make money. I'm sure they do shady things. If my electricity supplier keeps getting caught trying to shaft me, then I'm sure my drug companies are happy to exploit me as well.
I doubt that these viruses and diseases are man-made. I think they would be for more effective if they were. But for just as long a time, there have also been people around to both genuinely heal and exploit the sick and dying.

If the news is to be believed (they can't lie all the time can they?), then quarantines were not being enforced. The military are actually also good for distribution of items and other "non-shooty or blowy-uppy" tasks.

i am nkt justifying the near criminal profiteering of the pharmaceutical industry, however patenting the virus is done to create the vaccine, not to creat the virus.

my reference to paris was simply a reference to a "modern" western city where infrastructure is strong.
In order to control and prevent the spread of the virus, and care for the ill, there has to be solid infrastructure.

Some of these regions have ridiculously few doctors and properly trained medical staff.
Think of it as a rowdy A&E department on a Friday or Saturday night. Even if the doctors are there, you'll probably need security and cleaners at some point.
Ebola can be contained (and treated, it seems), but it does need to be contained. We can't just let it run rampant through another country and expect to deal with it only when it reaches our part of the world.
