I got there about 6:25 and was in the back of a long ass line. I didn't think I'd get one but managed to score. Some people in line were buying prints from the other artist in the show.
I'm just barely learning and getting into the urban, graffiti style of artwork. I typically go for the lowbrow, surreal stuff.
Someone asked about the smaller works in Sandra's show and they are better in person than the description on thinkspace's website. I was feeling them.

Better double the price for a great screenprint and i will go for it. last time she tried a screen print it was a huge failure. would love to see a better attempt meanwhile I'm over here offering flippers hundreds more than cost on ebay and it's not enough for them. screw this.
Sad to hear that! Dont follow the flippers, even they are dolphins!
With a 4color CYMK screenprint (I knkw there are less studios who print that) or printing at IDEM, artists can print close photoquality in an artistic way.
Giclee is fine for a cheaper price.
When an artist or gallery choses a fine art inkjet giclee print I prefer a UV-screenprint vanish like Conor Harrington and Lazarides are doing it. Thats worth the money.
I like Sandras work, but I also like invest my money in long lasting editions.
I wait for the next edition and her show in Europe at Stolenspace - next year I guess.

Sandra Chevrier Solo Show, by Reptile 072 on Oct 16, 2016 19:07:36 GMT 1, I don't collect Sandra's work, but have always wanted to see them in person. The large pieces were eye-catching, although the subject matter does not really appeal to me.
The "box" pieces have great mileage for fans, however, as the collages are reversible and can be displayed without the collage as well, displaying only the painting underneath. It was fun watching the gallery staff reverse the collages during the show.
Didn't get a chance to talk to Sandra as she was cornered for most of the show, but maybe next time.
I did pick up a HF print (a weakness for me); I particularly dig the one I got as it is very clearly different than the 1st edition, given that some of the collage bits protrude off the face.
I've included photos of every piece below, as well as some shots of my HF print (second post). My favorites were the wood engraved and La Cage Ici.

I came in near closing and picked up one of the regular editions as the HF was long sold out. I agree that La Cage Ici was the best piece from the show. I was surprised by the variety of the masks on the boxes. I especially liked the Star Wars based comics.
This was my first time going to a gallery (let alone an opening night). I kind of felt like a knob standing around appreciating art but I'll get over it.

I had an opportunity for a couple as well, and declined them in favor of a big Saber 1/1 Rebels Flag. I couldn't justify paying $850 for an effectively 2"x3" piece. I'll acquire an original or some HPMs at some point. Hell, my gf is from Montreal so I might stop in to COA in a couple of months and have the advantage of the exchange rate

I got it, and it's at Framing Devil now courtesy of the seller (the original commissioner of the Rebels Flag print run). I should it have it framed and on a wall in a few weeks. Until then, I don't really have a good picture of it. I can only say it's beautiful.
