I just don't see it like that. He's releasing small affordable originals, so that people who like his work can own some. Sure, if your motive is the hope of rocketing secondary value, it might not be great. But for the love of art, it's wonderful. Plus, a mans got to eat!

I'm not a value or flipping type. But I do honestly like the things I own to feel limited .. for me atleast. I respect what he's doing, but simultaneously why not just do 1 large 150+ item release .. while he's doing a good thing to feed bus fans, 10-15 items once a week in all honesty just feels more like a hype show, or an attempt to stay relevant. Idk. I kudu dislike the release design possibly more than the work. .

SEEN πΊπΈ Richard "Richie" Mirando β’ Godfather of Graffiti, by Dibbs 45 on Jun 13, 2017 13:30:25 GMT 1, I like both. Both artists make a living this way and fans get what they want in terms of owning OGs. Both have sound reputations on different sides of the pond. However presumably it must be hard for artists to decide whether their career should be managed in order to set themselves towards becoming a marketable commodity and broaden their reputation against keeping it real with their feet firmly on the ground. Banksy seems to have managed both. An art in itself.

As he has said on here he will not make these available forever. If he were only to have made say 10 pieces than MAYBE they would have landed in the hands of collectors but by keeping it going for a bit he ensures that most of his fans are able to get an original, and piece of history at pretty reasonable prices. Just my 2 cents. Of course if you don't like the art itself than you do t like it. No worries.

Couldn't make a choice between the two, both producing original and well priced work so both winners

Good point. I have actually purchased originals from both because I like them both. In my opinion, they are both legends of the genre and given their different styles they may appeal to different tastes. For example, my brother does not understand why I want a large skeleton with bright gums on my wall π; however he recognizes Seens style of graffiti from NYC. I enjoyed explaining the background of the Sweettoof skeleton as well as his classically trained oil skills. It's all fascinating and quite interesting to see which artist resonates more with the forum members. If I had to pick one I'd go with sweettoof because the work is just so unique, but it is nice to not have to make that choice.

Pretty sure they are for the actual size of the unstretched canvas rather than the artwork on it - most seem to have a border left for stretching so the size quoted includes artwork and border
I cannot check as once they go from the site they are hard to see/find but I have had 2 from GL - one had a border and one was sprayed edge to edge/end to end with no border for stretching and I think in both cases the size quoted at point of sale was the total canvas size and not the image
hope that -- in a convoluted way -- helps
cheers

Thanks, yeah I'm just trying to figure out if I can order a stretcher before my canvas arrives. Sounds like I should wait.

SEEN πΊπΈ Richard "Richie" Mirando β’ Godfather of Graffiti, by easycraig on Jun 14, 2017 16:13:19 GMT 1, I am guessing the size stated is the actual size of the un-stretched canvas with the boarders. The small one's I bought first were listed at 12x16 inches and they were. The most recent I purchased says it was 11x16, I am hoping it was a typo but my guess is it is not. This means the mat will have to be 1.5 inches on the sides and 1 inch on the top and bottom, -or I cheat it a bit and cover some of the top and bottom ( will probably make the mat 1.25 for top and bottom, to make it look more even in a 12x16 frame. ) ec

SEEN πΊπΈ Richard "Richie" Mirando β’ Godfather of Graffiti, by Graffiti Loser on Jun 15, 2017 4:20:48 GMT 1, OK People..... Let me explain to give you guys a better idea of how i measure each painting.
When a painting is listed, i list it as an un-stretched size, I do this because people may want to stretch it the size of their choice, or some may not want to stretch at all, some choose to put in a frame.
There is a one inch boarder around all four sides. this i do for the smaller size canvas so i can tape them to the wall instead of stapling to the wall. So if i list a painting to be 22 x 28 inches this size will include the one inch boarder all around, Also i do this for stretching purposing which the one inch boarder would end up stapled to the back of the stretcher bar. if your framing the work then the one inch boarder goes under the matt board in the frame.
I hope this info helps those who are asking.
Thanks SEEN
PS, i will in the future make it more clear in future listings.

I only ask because I had a canvas by another street artist and it was on linen and after years of temperature fluctuation the acrylic spray paint was susceptible to cracking because the canvas didn't breathe as well as cotton. Have you experienced this at all. by the way, love your stuff but would like to see more of the floating spray cans.

I hope to find a black mat easily, for instance at IKEA they have a very decent frame of the right size but only white mats. Anyway my canvas is still travelling so I will look for the mat when it arrives.
