People also consistently try to pan auctions results that disagree with the status quo of an artist's perceived value. It goes both ways.

I know that people do, but honestly why do anyone care if there are tape marks on it's back?

What was condition like on the rat ? Excellent. It needed pressing and had a bit of extra ink from screening. It went for what it did because of the standard temporal variations in pricing.

If you go to a dealer who has been in business for 10+ years they don't care, if you try to sell on the forum to someone they will fucking shit themselves and tell you it is worthless.

SIGNED BANKSY 'LOVE RAT' BONHAMS 16/12/16, by daveart on Dec 19, 2016 19:27:15 GMT 1, I have asked a number of gallery people this question. Is an auction price a wholesale or a retail price.
Every gallery person I have asked has basically said they believe Most auctions are dominated money wise by institutional buying and that makes auctions more of a wholesale price. So expect that this is a good buyers price and this piece will be for sale in a gallery near you at 150% of the auction price .
Curious if others have thoughts on this

SIGNED BANKSY 'LOVE RAT' BONHAMS 16/12/16, by Poster Bob on Dec 20, 2016 12:14:40 GMT 1, I view auction prices in this way, it is the price a gallery or dealer was willing to pay in order to sell it on immediately to a client for an acceptable profit.
