So here goes...I purchased a BGR (is that the right combination of letters?) over 10 years ago from new I was high on life and even higher on hope that I would one day hang it in a big ass house.
10 years on I did not get the house but hey, I have still got my ass and the freshest looking rat on the planet. The little fella has seen light a few times and his ass is as flat as a rats placard!
Which got me thinkingโฆhow does condition affect value?
Any of you rat fans privy to a collectors condition guide similar to that of vinyl or does no one really give a rats ass about unsigned prints?

Anyone have a scooby how many original owners still have their prints - and how many of those have never framed or displayed them?
For the record I am no weird beard, i loved banksy pictures well before i got my print, i would keep spotting them at random house parties in Bristol, I remember the first one I saw in St.Pauls or thereabouts - anyone on here know of or own that one, it was a police car (American i think) and some dude letting down the tyre or readjusting it in a mischievous way - must have been around 2000ish - can't remember seeing it anywhere since - I remember asking where they got it, mate did it was the reply, then recognised another in same style a year or 2 later - saw prints and instantly recognised the style so was going to buy a bunch of them as couldn't choose which one i liked most. They were cheap then obviously but in the end only got one as was far from flush... I watched them quickly dwindle from early signed ones to nearly gone...
Just wanted to clear that up as I would question anyone who kept street art in a folder for 12 years - I so for the record I am not weird (often) โ and could have one of the last true flat ass rats around - I am signing off - but will pop an image up tomorrow -

Nice print. Since we're talking about the condition. The top and the bottom edges of the print seem wavy. Unless stored between flat surfaces with some pressure on them, most prints, will naturally develop small waves as they adapt to the environment and is perfectly natural. Can be easily flattened before framing or just kept as is. I always recommend having a recommended professional restorer do any flattening if you choose to do so. Great piece! |

otherwise .. GR is thought by some as B's finest R@ - fair enough ... no ?
certainly not as in yow faece .. as CWSB or Nap.. or QV.. i'd agree.. but then the demand/market for those is smaller as a result..

Most pieces sold at auction are framed, and the unframed pieces don't seem to command a significantly higher value in comparison to their framed counterparts.
Framing can also have its benefits, especially if you frame in a way that uses no mounting, etc. (i.e. photo corners; then it's still mint). Waviness of a print has prevented me from buying a few over the past year; don't want to deal with bringing an expensive print to a restorer to flatten it out, as that creates more anxiety than buying a framed print from a reputable seller IMO.
