DFace โข Union Jacked Print, by I Woke in Relief on Dec 8, 2016 21:24:14 GMT 1, As polymindset said, if you're buying based on "fear of missing out" then you miss the whole point of art. This would be more the way a flipper would think!? That's doesn't really make sense - let's say I'm a D*Face fan, I like his work, but I'm not necessarily going to buy something just because he put it out. If he releases an image in advance I can consider if I want it for some period of time and make an informed decision. On the other hand, with no advance image, I have a very small window of time to decide if I like the image or not; it's entirely possible to be on the fence about something when you first see it. But, for the most part, D*Face's stuff sells out immediately. So, minus just hating the image, I now default to purchasing because it sure as hell beats buying something second hand at a higher price; but I might end up having a print I don't like. Hence, it's not very difficult to buy something in an attempt to "not miss out" without in any way being a flipper.
(this is strictly rhetorical, I'm not interested in trying for this print).

Fair enough but buying based on this premise is wrong. Should be for the love of the art not for fear of missing out

Love of art should be instinctive you shouldn't have to dwell on it.

DFace โข Union Jacked Print, by nex on Dec 8, 2016 21:47:11 GMT 1, I have to applaud your persistence sugar well done
as for the premise dface keeps getting more popular, it's fairly clear the height of his popularity was 5+ years ago when pop tart was commanding a multiple of its current price, whilst yes he has a committed group who buy his prints, interest outside of that seems low judging on his secondary market and general discussion of his work.
for me his best work was at his first show in 06 by some stretch

DFace โข Union Jacked Print, by Matt on Dec 8, 2016 21:49:43 GMT 1, Those are his best and what he is all about. He takes hia inspiration from Lichtenstein. He needs a new body of work.. Same old same old.. I'm a fan of his older work before all this cartoon stuff.. Not my bag, but each to their own..
Agree. Punk, DSTQ, A-hole, Fools Gold were the golden era. The lichtensteins look nice, but certainly not his best stuff, and got old super quick.
Now Would be a good time to move one.
D*Face is quite a creative guy and am sure he has something new in him. His butterflies, his book mash-ups etc were great ideas...
i hope this will be something new ! I doubt it though and warning you will release a print but not showing it is a bit dubious...

Cool, unsure of stolen space's definition but thought original meant one of a kind!
Peace!

I find it interesting that most members find his early work to be his best. While DSTQ is cheekily amusing, and pop tart is one of his best prints, I'm of the opinion that this work lacks the depth of his later exhibitions like "new world disorder" or "your dreams belong to us". His output in the middle of his career displays a unique voice and often sharp critique of pop culture and the way we consume artwork. In fact, I believe his regression to more superficial imagery in the past years is a major reason for his decline in popularity.

Totally agree, new world disorder for me was were it was at with Dface. Really hit his stride with some of his best and most comprehensive and cohesive set of work

There is never a clearly fair or easy answer. This is how I've released prints for 10+ years @xxxxxxx - no one is ever forced to make a purchase, flipper, avid collector or new fan."
