Banksy Bomb Hugger Print, by Run Pig Run on May 16, 2007 16:51:21 GMT 1, anyone have any idea what the going rate would be for an unsigned bomb hugger these days? As i have one in my possesion and am pretty close to a sale on it so I can buy some different stuff.
I will buy it off you if your sell falls through.

Banksy Bomb Hugger Print, by danvnuk on May 21, 2007 14:29:57 GMT 1, Was anyone else watching this one?
Ended up going for ยฃ7,300 ( I was expecting it to go for more) but something seems slightly dodgy to me......
Annonymous bids (why do people insist on doing this? I've yet to see a signed Bomb hugger sold on E-Bay that didn't have annonymous bids, would certainly put me off for fear of shill bidding)
Bid of 8k retracted.
hmmmmmmm

Banksy Bomb Hugger Print, by lesroy on Jan 5, 2007 19:41:01 GMT 1, thats strange?
Signature does look good, but hey.. its not a hard one to do!
I cannot see where these unstamped or unnumbered ones come from? Either thats the sale of the fucking centuary and I will feel like a mug or it's a little bent backdoor job someone has forged a sig on??
Dunno what to say but Im very interested in this... its a great print!

Someone, I think it was punkdaisy had a fair few ( 5-10) signed but unstamped/numbered, had a bit of a discussion when I first joined the forum about authenticity of such prints, even he agreed by the end, that without propper verification from the artist that they signed it, then its of little more than sentimental value, the owner may know banksy signed itbut has no way to prove its any more than a forged sig on a back door print, If trev bought it to hang, then good on him, lovely ( if slightly wrinkled print) if he bought it in a Nu style low cost smash and grab, but with the intention to sell it on he may have probs.

Banksy Bomb Hugger Print, by lesroy on Jan 5, 2007 19:53:03 GMT 1, as these were before POW stamped prints I bet there are the occasional ones that simply "obtain" a new number in pencil at some point in their life... its a pot shot 1/150 if someone happens to seey you've done it to theirs...
Funny world this art business....

As the saying goes, "if it looks too good to be true, it probably is", these have been floating around a while. Punkdaisy.com had a few a while back. There's no way on earth to verify them, even if genuine. Laz was asked if these were worth anything.. response "sod all".
Two prints, both without numbers.
1) Backdoor job with fake sig 2) Genuine with "Banksy gave it to me for working on a project back in the day" story..
same difference if selling, ok if you own and hold onto the first or have a dialogue with owner and satisfied it's for real.
But buying blind for 750 !?!.. idiotic.

Banksy Bomb Hugger Print, by trevk008 on Jan 5, 2007 20:07:56 GMT 1, I have actually just talked to the guy on the phone. He does actually sound very genuine, he has asked that I be discrete. So with that in mind, what I will say is, while he sounds genuine he is unable to provide details that he would be happy for me to use to verify the print. I explained given that premise it makes the print no different than the ยฃ39 canvases that sell on ebay. We have mutually agreed to cancel the purchase and I have suggested he approach POW for a letter of authenticity.
Cool.

I have a signed Bombhugger - check out the 'Get Your Banksys out for the lads' thread, page 9 for a pic to compare.
Yes they are signed in pen - well mine is anyway
Im not at home right now, so cant compare this one to mine like for like - but at first glance from the pics - signature looks entirely legit and fine to me, numbering is right....
The more expert among the forum may have other opinions though.
I'll be watching this auction with interest, haven't seen a signed bombhugger come up on ebay for months - the last one I saw sold privately and went for an obscene amount of cash.

Ebay: 190069246429 Depends on what he used to signj it with, quite a few prints are signed in pen, with the older prints the batches were'nt all signed at the same time, as someone ordered one he would sign a few up at a time. Its not common but not unusual to have an older print signed in pen.

Im no expert on these matters - my only qualification being that I have the same signed print that Im entirely satisfied is legit....seeing as I bought it myself originally from Tom Tom- 1 careful owner lol
Ive compared mine to the one in E-Bay, and the numbering looks to be in the same format and in the same medium (pencil) the Signature looks the same (fine black pen) the position of the signature and number are the same, it all looks good to me comparison wise.

Banksy Bomb Hugger Print, by willamsa on Jan 7, 2007 15:44:23 GMT 1, danvnuk, thanks, the seller mentioned they purchased from ebay so little documentation
poses the question, what sort of transfer documents should you ask for when buying a print, is a simple word processed letter stating where and when you bought the piece, and who you are transfering it to ?

Banksy Bomb Hugger Print, by danvnuk on Jan 7, 2007 21:04:33 GMT 1, danvnuk, thanks, the seller mentioned they purchased from ebay so little documentation poses the question, what sort of transfer documents should you ask for when buying a print, is a simple word processed letter stating where and when you bought the piece, and who you are transfering it to ?
The documentation is always going to be a problem for a lot of the early prints - No one knew that the prices would take off and a lot of people binned their receipts or never got them in the first place. For example when I bought mine, it was ยฃ225 (And that was framed albeit in a Neilsen frame) The idea that it would be selling for thousands of pounds a couple of years later never entered my head.
Therefore, I have a barely legible thermal credit card receipt from Tom Tom which is looking more and more like the Turin Shroud as each day passes and I guess POW should be able to confirm that print was sold onto Tom Tom - Thats it.
As for what you should ask for if you win the ebay auction - I think, as you say - you should definately get some kind of receipt transferring ownership from them to you -
Im sure there are loads of people on here who can advise on the format that should take.
Good Luck

Good Luck When buying older prints I will often ask the seller to write a confirmation email of what I have purchased eg date, ammount description of the print, number, stamps etc.. where they got the print from ( still usually the supplier, few third and fourth hands prints yet, but numbers are increasing). This sets a little of the print history with details in one place, its not really worth the paper its written on, but does provide some sort of background and history for the print. When selling I provide what I can as I wont own the print anymore, why hold onto any excess info relating to the print.
