It's simple supply and demand economics. I agree $11k is quite a bit of dough for that particular piece but this maybe a sign of thing to come. It's also fair to say that the Chinese market for Banksy is just starting to open up. Additionally, there are some people out there with loads of money and $11k isn't even a drop in the bucket. About a week ago another member posted a statement that effectively stated, will we look back in three years and say damn I should've bought back then when you could still get one for $6k. Nobody has a crystal ball for future Banksy values on unsigned pieces, my opinion is , don't be surprised.

Its safe to say at the moment i will be hanging on to my other B,s.. Its a crazy world us !st worlders live in..

I don't know about the law in your neck of the woods but that would be breaking it down here. You have a contract with the gallery and once agreed by both parties is iron clad. I have heard of galleries rescinding on contracts when they have had a better offer but not here as our laws protect every Australian against such skulduggery. Australia has the best Fair Trading and Consumer Protection laws in the known world, the rest of it unfortunately is reminiscent of the deep south in the 50's. Nice score on the Bomb Hugger btw. |

Most telling are the recent Kaws toys, people paid a couple grand for pieces that are regularly available on ebay for a couple hundred bucks. More power to them if they can keep it up, high results like this only serve to benefit those of us investing in urban art.

There are so many fake toys on the bay, I suppose people may feel more confident buying from Paddle. For other works the prices are harder to understand.........

On a side note I don't think Paddle8 are happy they have lost there royal connection with Princess Beatress going back to London

Yes i think a lot would of felt the same but what could go wrong as long as you played your cards right. If it was not exactly as described PayPal would refund you but the smart player would of bid and once won contact the seller and advice you want to run some info thru PC before payment or if local arrange a meet for a COD. If at any time the seller baulked or resisted well you would of known it was dodgy if not someone got a bargain.
