Banksy Bomb Hugger Print, by KingsXArt on Dec 9, 2017 17:49:34 GMT 1, Hello again Mr Highlystrungflyer,
As clearly stated in the post, these are the prices that 'Hangupgallery' would sell them for, if...I listed with them. I do not expect these prices from the forum. Just a stake in the ground, as people such as yourself would ask to get more stars; with no intension of purchasing anything.
The price of pictures is defined by the demand at the time;all things find there level. I just though I would see if anyone was interested here...as I have bought here before and pictures seem to move well, to people who appreciate art; but that is between myself and someone who actually has some money to buy. Not just an abundance of time and a warnout key board.
Everybody Please Please donate this Christmas to #Highlystrungflyer-New-Keyboard-Founation# the little guys only warn it out again!

I'm very relaxed mate. It's you that is highly strung and wearing out your keyboard.
If you're looking for a "steak in the ground", maybe don't go for an unsold print at a gallery known for having the highest prices around.
Just relax

As you know from our previous correspondence we here at 'Stakeintheground Solutions ltd', aim to help frustrated individuals price art they, like most others struggle too- due to the varied pace in the growth; of the Banksy market. We caveat our price research- with information such as; where we got the prices from and understanding of thus establishments consignment fees.
Our understanding was that the forum was a place where people discuss art and sometimes sell thus art- as a "peer to peer" platform to avoid fees related to brokers and galleys. Hey in the words of Hot Chocolate (1978) "everyones a winner, baby - thats the truth". We deduced that people with a spare $30odd k would be able to work out that consignment frees less price would be a good place to start.
We are sorry you are disgruntled with our service and as a token of our understanding... We offer to donate 1% of company profits to your wife for Christmas, for putting up with you at home for another year.

I would but I wouldn't pay anywhere near that as it's way over market cost so I didn't want to waste your time. Too busy to read your other essay of a post.

What kind of logic is that? Pay more than it's worth because it might be worth what you paid for it next year?

Sorry, my point was more that if you want it, the seller wont need to sell at 'what it's worth' which is a price I believe no one can say (sellers price high, buyers dream low) not wishing to derail further this post, but I meant, if you love the print, have themoney...pay it, own it, hang it... you get that print now or in 6 months you will be saying 'I wish I bought that then'. For clarity i do not own one, want one (well I would love one but cant afford), i don't know the OP or any others related to this post so have no vested interest in the price...

I agree Snoozy - it's worth what someone will pay for it. It's already higher in galleries (yes I know galleries blah blah blah) - in reality people love a gallery price when they own said print.
OP has been open with everyone and is giving someone on here first choice to own it. There seems to be a lot of tension on the forum - it's Christmas. Be happy.

I understand what you're saying but I don't believe prices will rise that much and I don't think they have been moving for a while. I also don't think I was trolling was I? Making a point that his prints will not sell at those prices. I wasn't insulting and in fact other people are the ones who have been trolling. Look at how rude some people have been.

For clarity i do not own one, want one (well I would love one but cant afford), i don't know the OP or any others related to this post so have no vested interest in the price... I agree. And in way of an example of how people like to dictate the worth of a print, I'll share my experience of selling my signed ยฃ100 sheet of Di-faced tenners on eBay in late 2006 or possibly early 2007. The print cost me ยฃ95 from POW. I think it was numbered 13/50, the edition was certainly 50.
First a caveat on figures and dates (I know how people on this forum like to tear others apart), it was over 10 years ago, a lot of rapids have passed under a very weak and rickety bridge since then, and at the time I wasn't compelled to write down or remember the detail, I just moved on with my life (he says haha).
The print did 'quite' well and eventually sold for around ยฃ4,500 (give or take). However, during the listing and even afterwards, I received quite a few, very angry rants about how I had shilled it, which I had not, and that it wasn't worth it and that there was one for sale in this gallery and that gallery for less, on and on it went. You get the picture.
I met the buyer in the old HSBC, may have been Natwest, at Victoria Station. He checked over the print, as best he could, as we sat in little chairs in the middle of a tiny little branch, handed over the money, which we both agreed was a lot for such a little piece of paper, but he himself said it will look cheap very soon. He was right, 6/9 months later one sold in a London auction house for, I believe, around ยฃ63,000.
Works would never increase in value if no one was ever prepared to pay more than the perceived 'market value'.
If I ever have the money, I would happily sit in an auction room and pay what ever I had to to put my Banksy collection back together, regardless of what the zeitgeist of the day was telling me the pieces were worth. And there's the rub, there are people out there that would buy these prints in a heartbeat, if they had the money, just for the pleasure of owning one. In my humble opinion, people are confusing passion with investment far too much, and while they can mix to a certain degree they don't always go hand in hand.
Anyway, I hope some people find my little experience interesting. At the end of the day we are all just custodians of these artworks, as they pass through our hands (every collector should own at least one piece of Vanitas). For me the narrative is, and will always remain, the important factor. I feel privileged to have owned a large Banksy collection, and have the inevitable stories that go with that; and to have lived through a defining moment of Art History. If you have any thoughts feel free to comment, but please try to behave like an adult and not a child in a playground.

Banksy Bomb Hugger Print, by Deleted on Dec 10, 2017 16:58:03 GMT 1, What was it that caused the huge price rise in such a short period dude? Hey iamzero, I'm not too sure, I think my sale just coincided with the cusp of his prices going crazy and his work being accepted by main stream collectors. Perhaps a gallery, who remembers, can give us a more concise, clear answer?

Banksy Bomb Hugger Print, by lee3 on Dec 10, 2017 18:27:30 GMT 1, Great read, Cside. Sept '06 was Barely Legal which served as a launching pad price wise and would fit in well with your memory no matter how many rapids passed under the bridge. Have a grand time visiting Walled Off.

Banksy Bomb Hugger Print, by daveart on Dec 11, 2017 23:24:08 GMT 1, Sorry, my point was more that if you want it, the seller wont need to sell at 'what it's worth' which is a price I believe no one can say (sellers price high, buyers dream low) not wishing to derail further this post, but I meant, if you love the print, have themoney...pay it, own it, hang it... you get that print now or in 6 months you will be saying 'I wish I bought that then'. For clarity i do not own one, want one (well I would love one but cant afford), i don't know the OP or any others related to this post so have no vested interest in the price... I have never sold anything that i could have bought back a year later at less money. The long 10 plus year increase in value may stagnate in the future now that values are so high. But that is investing talk.. what makes you happy.. what makes you interested in the art.. what makes you want to talk to people and enjoy the experience. Once you find that then it doesn't matter if you pay 4 or 6 .. you get in the game ..and that is what makes you happy. I doubt for any of us our dying breath will be used to say .. "damn.. i over paid for that Banksy 20 years ago..."
