Santa's Ghetto 2006, by gm on Dec 1, 2006 12:39:49 GMT 1, Is there any point in going down say next weekend? Seems to me there's so much interest around this kind of stuff at the moment that all the stock will be gone by about tea time today!
They'll have new stuff coming in all the time if past years are anything to go by.

Santa's Ghetto 2006, by thetongue on Dec 1, 2006 15:41:25 GMT 1, They tried at the start but the credit card thingy wouldn't work so said cash only, then quickly changed to no sales until 3pm, then said viewing day only, no sales until tomorrow!! All v poor really. You thought they may have learnt...
Prob changed their minds now and selling!!
Will be online too but if they can't process a credit card how they going to keep tabs on both online and store puchases!?
Few new bits for sale (maybe including some Micallef ) but not much too be honest. The decent original stuff either sold last night or is over-priced in my opinion.
Best bit is the teddy with real liver and flies in the window! ;D

Santa's Ghetto 2006, by thetongue on Dec 1, 2006 15:55:37 GMT 1, There was just one original I think (sold last night), and there's two prints (can't remember names) @£300 and £250. Couldn't actually see them in the folders on view though.
Can buy online but I wouldn't bank on it so I'm gutted as can't get back there tomorrow!!
Only one guy working there had a clue so pot luck if you get anything I think.
Everyone was after the eelus, but avoid the first batch as sure creased after a bit wodge were just grabbed up at the start!

Santa's Ghetto 2006, by thetongue on Dec 1, 2006 16:06:09 GMT 1, Exactly my point rillo - they were clueless! Two on the price list and one of bods there confirmed but couldn't believe anything really so who knows!
No-one with any business sense or skill in operations works there!! (Can you tell I'm a bit bitter... )
Should've guessed when a sign said new Banksy on sale in December!!! ;D
Nice buy-a-limb machine though and painting of Jacko lol

Santa's Ghetto 2006, by andrewd on Dec 1, 2006 16:36:03 GMT 1, popped in at lunch and the place was rammed! Some excellent work in there - who done the Sid Vicous canveses?
Insect as I understand it. There are two Micallefs on the price list I've got, Judgement Day £300 and Friendly Fire £250. No sign of them there. The list of events for December includes prints from someone who's name begins with B. Rather a pity that us mere mortals are out of the running when it comes to buying original canvas on account of it being sold to the invite only crowd. I hear that the Banksy, Hansel and Grettel modified Tom Ormond painting with Michael Jackson is yours for a mere £250,000.

Santa's Ghetto 2006, by stylus on Dec 1, 2006 16:53:09 GMT 1, I queued and got in when it opened. It was pretty chaotic, and the staff were so stupendously unprepared. I love POW to death, but you'd think that by now they'd be well prepared (especially as I hear last night was pretty hectic, too).
I soon decided that I was unlikely to walk away with anything today without being *extremely* patient (and probably persuasive)...
Hey ho. I'm going to steer clear over the weekend and hope that there will still be something for sale by Monday!

Hi Silky, I can only comment on what it was like at around 1pm. At that point, there was little space to move around. The counter was surrounded, three deep.
It's pure guess-work, but I'd estimate that there were somewhere between 75 and 150 people inside at that time.
I'd be interested to know if that situation has changed later in the day...

Santa's Ghetto 2006, by andrewd on Dec 1, 2006 17:12:26 GMT 1, 3,000 sq ft of space and lots and lots of people.( couple of hundred ) The main sales counter was mobbed 6 deep for about 25 feet, too busy for a pub and certainly too mad for taking credit card payments for art. Faces on the staff certainly didn't suggest that they were too Perhaps that was due to the heavy hangovers most of them admitted to!
