If thats the case then its good news, I had a feeling that everything might get sold at the ghetto, with nothing left for the site, hence not a snowflakes chance in hell of getting some of the prints available, but if they are splitting the availability to keep some for online purchase for those unable to attend the ghetto, it makes me much happier, on the other hand I may be clutching at straws and everything will be long gone before christmas eve

Santa's Ghetto 2006, by mido on Dec 3, 2006 1:12:49 GMT 1, queue to get into a shop, via burly bouncers, so I can pay people money to buy stuff from them?
anyone else freaked out by this concept?
and the rampant consumerism and sheep like mentality??
Milton friedman died last week, but he'd be so interested in this
serpentine was equally depressing. The worst pile of rotting excrement I have ever seen in my life, populated almost exclusively by 20 and 30 somethings (no old, young or non ABC white people to be seen), scratching their chins and finding deep meaning in this complete bullshit. Made me really embarassed to be a Banksy fan, to see his work displayed with this conceptual shit. An awful experience. Took all of 5 minutes to finish the whole exhibition before I was sick outside - maybe I should have been sick inside and labelled it contemporary art.
In contrast the Aquarium had a free opening of their new gallery in farringdon. No invite needed, no guest list, no bouncers. Turn up, wander, buy (or not), drink, talk to real artists (e.g. Billy Childish and Jimmy cauty).

At first I couldn't work out why you'd put asterisks in the middle of the word as well as at each end. Then I realized it was our wonderful censorbot at work again
That one really did make me LOL ;D
Afterthought... They have burly guards at bleedin Superdrug these days. No surprise to see them at the ghetto really.
And they weren't intrusive, and they didn't shadow my every move like they do in Superdrug either.

Santa's Ghetto 2006, by twigboy on Dec 3, 2006 2:39:42 GMT 1, Bet most of you thought the D-Face show was cutting edge.. HA! You have missed the point of SG all together... Eleus - Shata... 27th colour... WOW... I'm really pissed off I missed that one... Did anyone even look at the art on the walls, or was everyone so lame, all they could do is rape POW's latest editions.... Peter Cenner... Venda Limb, Pictures Of Walls, Guns in Fire alarms, paul insect work, and the guy who did the head in the wall sculps, Top Class... Oh yes, forgot to get my eleus print on the way out... someone first in the queue had brought 10 and I missed my chance... was to busy looking at the real art...s**t... time to cut my wrists.... Christmas is always a good time to kill yourself...

Santa's Ghetto 2006, by mido on Dec 3, 2006 3:16:59 GMT 1, D's show was very poor, IMO, and I said so at the time.
Can't see the interest in much of his work, nor micallef. But that's the beauty of art. we all like different things.

Santa's Ghetto 2006, by mido on Dec 3, 2006 3:24:51 GMT 1, damn I assumed everyone had heard about it. there have been two emails from the Aquarium about it.
yeah, they've taken on a new place on Farringdon Rd (near tube). about 3 times bigger than Woburn Walk. they have to keep Woburn due to the lease, and will sell a variety of odd and sods from there.....
anyway, it was excellent, and u missed it. Sign up to Aquarium newsletters, u lazy boy :-)
you miss my point - when was the last time you queued up, just to get into a SHOP, to probably buy stuff you haven't even seen?? shops are a commerical enterprise where we enter into an arrangement where I pay for somethin I want, and they give it to me... to queue up to get into one seems mad to me.
Martin - Has Aquarium moved or is it an additional spot? On Friday I was thinking of swerving off Euston Road as I cycled past to have a peek in through the window, but didn't have enough time (was late, we were going out). ummmmmmm - and..btw, whats the alternative to "paying people money to buy stuff from them" ? photograph it? barter ? (" 'ere, this piece of conceptual vomit I have freshly made *is easily worth two of your Insect"). *sni**ers*

Santa's Ghetto 2006, by Curley on Dec 3, 2006 12:33:05 GMT 1, Morning All I'm feeling a lot of negative vibes out there about SG. I think people should chill out a little and cut POW some slack here (multiple copy selling aside).
I was at the shop when the window was revealed on Thursday night as luckily for me my office is close by and i was in the queue early on Friday when it opened (good to meet you Greg - are you on here ?). Yes, they had problems etc but i am not surprised as the counter was completely mobbed from the second the door opened by what really looked like a pack of wolves all wanting to be served first. I think some people should really think about the way they actually treated the staff and there fellow people in the line. i could smell greed. I went back yesterday afternoon all a bit quieter, a system in place, a slight wait for my print but in the end i got what i wanted. Lets be honest it is what it is slightly shambolic but very cool, would people really prefer it to be run like Tesco's ? i know i would not.
Remember POW is a mail order business not a shop and they do this cause they want to give some thing back to there supporters but all i have seen here is people moaning and frankly I'm quite bored of it. The staff i have spoken to have all been very nice and answered any question i put to them.
Here are some of the first pictures taken of the window on Thursday around 4ish.
I have not seen these posted either.
The one below is hiding in the toilet. (is it Banksy?)
Lastly one of my favourites.
Sorry, they are not the best pix in the world.
Toodle pip.

Yep, they are available at the Ghetto ;D But! I think the signed ones were all sold out on Saturday, and I should think the unsigned will not be far behind

Hi, nothing planned, so if I do it will be through sheer boredom and on impulse, slammed with work this end and to be honest, not really that into 'shopping'.. though a combined trip to the tate, stolen space, serpetine and the ghetto would make for a good weekend ;D Birthday on the 15th, so maybe a trip is in order.
You get the info on the Panda's ? Pure Evil, working out of San Fran these days.. he had Panda canvas at Santas last year, edition of ten, 250 quid each, doubt you'll get em for that these daysd though. Lots of work up on beautifulcrimes.com if interested.
