I've been going to gigs for well over a quarter of a century now, and think I can tell musical talent when I hear it.
If McFly had met in the 6th form and were signed to some tiny indie label, a lot more people would "take them seriously. Tis just prejudice cos they met thru an advertisement, are signed to a major, and sell out arenas.
My last gig was Jah Wobble, with Tiny Tin Lady. My next gig will be Nick Harper with Rob d**kinson. The one after that will be Fastlane Roogalator (support to be announced). If I could be arsed listing every band I've seen this year alone you would see that my tastes are many and varied and I'm far from "lazy" when it comes to music (especially live music).
Knocking stuff before you've actually bothered to find out about it properly is "just plain lazy" in my book!
And I haven't heard a song about shagging their teachers (but that may be on the new CD which I haven't heard yet)

I was never into Busted, but Fightstar are on my "have seen this year" list (look, still no *blushing* or *shamefaced* emoticons!), and through going to see them I discovered Reuben. They are now my current favourite power-trio, and are fronted by (imo) one of the best Rock voices EVER! Jamie Lenman is a God of Singing! Wish they played more gigs that I could get to.
