Snik π¬π§ Stencil Artists β’ Street Art β’ Art For Sale, by Edge on Dec 11, 2014 2:26:01 GMT 1, decided to put releases back to friday 3PM this week where we will be also releasing this beautiful new SNIK print - SOUL'S APART. 14 colour screen print on 300 somerset paper. pink skirt washed edition of 75 at Β£125 blue skirt blacked out edition of 75 at Β£125 monochrome edition of 15 at Β£195 2 editions of 5 on aluminium composite different to normal stuff much more rigid and different process coming end of jan with other planned release's. technically this is our finest work and a beautiful print worth all the effort the artists put in taking the photo's, spending hours cutting stencils and making the piece etc, same goes for the process of making this print we went the extra mile on everything and it shows..... we are both so pleased how it has turned out. Awesome!

Snik π¬π§ Stencil Artists β’ Street Art β’ Art For Sale, by snik on Dec 11, 2014 11:09:09 GMT 1, This print is created from the mural version, i think because we worked off a 6 meter mural, when we scaled it down to print size, everything has gone so tight and clean (which personally i really like).

Snik π¬π§ Stencil Artists β’ Street Art β’ Art For Sale, by Graffiti Prints on Dec 11, 2014 12:11:30 GMT 1, This print is created from the mural version, i think because we worked off a 6 meter mural, when we scaled it down to print size, everything has gone so tight and clean (which personally i really like). OK I have more of a background on the image now, but I think you are correct in the scaling down process as you say everything has gone so tight that I think you have lost the stencil feel. So the print was created from a digital image of the wall. I'm not knocking you Snik in the slightest. I just looked at the print as a stand alone image and was puzzled as it looked like a digital photograph print, just not what I would have expected that's all. Good Luck on the release.
Print was made from each layer being sprayed and scanned then built back up into layers
Hence it's so sharp etc also we have found a way to sharpen details in screen prints removing half tones etc
Takes ages with the films before there exposed but so worth it for the finished result
Doing the same to a Sandra print last week took 2 days to go though the 30 odd films
Hence I described as our finest work to date!
Also did that on climber print with amazing results

I am curious why you would use 14 colors for a monochromatic image. Is there really a difference from a 3 color print I know your not charging for it with this edition and its priced well but it just seems like overkill. Regardless would be curious to see the detail shots to understand the need for so many screens.

it's because the skirt is 8 different layers alone, it's not just a case of take a dark grey and add white
We pick the darkest then match up from there to the lightest using special mixes I have every mix I have ever done saved With a ref to a print.
I could grade it though one grey but that would make it look not as good as blue and pink skirts which were done the same way
honestly I have never produced something as detailed as this as so crisp in screen print, the fabric looks like silk
Effort on the films after file work is paying off big time just costs more ESP in time!
