New Brainwash release 'King of Rock', by davievegas on Feb 25, 2017 0:49:03 GMT 1, Another cash grab. Took his workers 15 min to make on photoshop. You cant give the MLK and Pele prints he recently released away lol. Last 3 releases he did (not counting valentines print), they didn't sell out right away. I got 3 emails each release that they were still available. Seems the dude doesn't actually care anymore. Its another quick $375k when it sells out. The much bigger size is to make sure it actually sells out the first time around. Too many images of these iconic celebs.

New Brainwash release 'King of Rock', by Rouen Cathedral on Feb 25, 2017 2:39:57 GMT 1, Has anyone ever wondered the psychology regarding Thierry and his using iconic celebrities images is about him and what is missing in him.
I think the psychology is the same as so many 'uniformed' individuals. Celebrities are seen as successful no matter what. And his understanding is that by just including something successful than he will be successful. Sad thing is that it works as people eat up the obsession that is celebrities.
I think it's similar to street artists using historical art images in street art. Banksys Vermeer, bleks madonna. However I do find those a lot more successful than an image of a celebrity.

Totally agree, and the problem with him doing it is that he was offered up as the patsy in a game of holding a mirror up to an over saturated gene pool of recycled imagery. The overtly absurd stunt involving the likes of Mr Spock in Marilyn's blonde hair was supposed to be a short term comment, not turn into actually hoodwinking the so called art 'movement'. I realise they/he is playing out the old Sex Pistols mantra 'Flogging a dead horse' but this whole scenario is lacking the piratical charm and wit, its simply ripping people off and not even in a nice way.

New Brainwash release 'King of Rock', by Deleted on Feb 25, 2017 15:04:41 GMT 1, I guess Banksy was spot on when he said about morons buying s-hit.
One could buy a Brandwash from nothing more than a parasite.
Or one for the same money could buy an original painting from an artist in their local area.
I guess it's just people with disposable income and flippers buying this stuff who have not realise dthat the novelty wore off a long time ago.
If it was an original drawing done of Elvis by one of Brainfarts assistants it wouldn't be so bad but it's some sort of photo shop re jig of a photo of Elvis and he even fucked that up.
Support Brainwash and buy his crap so he can buy more property in LA.
Or support a real artist in LA and buy this for $10.

You might well be right about Elvis' popularity in Tennessee but how many people there know about brainwash and this release? Brainwash's Elvis release from 8 years ago sells for top of the mark, 2k now. That's a long wait. From what I imagine they are all in art galleries drawers

New Brainwash release 'King of Rock', by Dr Plip on Feb 25, 2017 16:04:29 GMT 1, Are our children or our children's children or our children's children's children going to want Elvis on their walls?
Chaplin? Laurel and Hardy? Marilyn Monroe? Ernest Shackleton?
Contributions to history, certainly. But will our descendants desire to own framed images of them, in the same manner that we desire porcelain ornaments on our windowsills, like our grandparents did?
These iconic entertainment stars of yesterday will be no different than the iconic music hall stars of yesterday.
Do you love it because it means something to you? Or do you love it because it once meant something to somebody?
And if anyone can work out what the hell I'm talking about, please let me know.

I don't think it's psychology (he is too simple for that). He just saw Warhol do it and then Banksy do it, etc (maybe just Banksy, he is too simple and art history iliterate to think of Warhol; he just saw celebrity iconography as a road to success. He just follows a most simple formula.

Depends on the kid and what they are into, and what we give them as parents. Some popular culture transcends time, and if the kid gets it and shows an interest in art then who knows. My son is 12, of course loves Star Wars. I took him to see Buster Keaton and Charlie Chaplin movies from an early age, dug them. Saw Rauschenberg's Combines at the Met at age 3, was very animated. I think the great pop art would be no different than reading Animal Farm, which is now age appropriate for him. He dug the original Planet of the Apes movies, and what kid worth his salt doesn't dig Godzilla? We were in Copenhagen last August went to Louisiana which has a permanent Kusama room he loved, and he made me take his picture standing next to a Warhol Mao.
One can never guess what a smart and curious kid might be into.

New Brainwash release 'King of Rock', by Deleted on Feb 25, 2017 18:01:41 GMT 1, You can buy a lot of burgers for $750. real Elvis fans flip burgers not prints.
The only people who say this effort is a good buy are people who buy to flip for profit.
It's garbage in reality, the sort of thing anyone could do at home with a googled photo of Elvis printed onto a map of anywhere.
I have read online that Brainwash is an employee of Banksy? Maybe someone can confirm or deny that.

I also read somewhere that Banksy actually adopts everyone that works for him. He provides for them, but doesn't have to pay them a proper wage. Clever bast*rd.
And they have to do what he says because he's their da.
