Jerome Lagarrigue , by wisky on May 11, 2017 16:31:15 GMT 1, Recieved my 'Colossus' from Lazarides yesterday, I can see the comparisons with C Harringtons work, but only in execution, Lagarrigues images have movement and realism, this is the best print I have ever bought. He is going to be massif in a few years time.

Jerome Lagarrigue , by wisky on May 11, 2017 23:03:41 GMT 1, The quality is unbelievable, easily the best print I personally have ever bought, (I used to own a GWRB) the emotion and movement in this work is unreal, I shall definitely be purchasing more/all of JL's prints while I can and would like to buy a JL canvas as I think his work is going to properly sky-rocket......
Just need to convince the missus that we should sell the car in exchange for an oil canvas painting.....!
I'm thinking..... 'We can get a couple of bikes sweetheart, we'll be keeping fit, see more of the Kent countryside, spend more quality time together, buy a Jerome Lagarrigue canvas, cut down on our carbon footprint, ect, ect......

A little birdie told me that Tagliette gallery has his previous prints at $5k minimum.

If anyone is on the fence, go ahead and grab it. You'll be happy you did. Surprised to see some still available.

No question I prefer Conor's work. This stuff is cool, but honestly I haven't seen enough of it to have formed a full opinion. I also appreciate the concept behind CH's work which he talks about pretty frequently. I'd love to hear in the artists' words why he paints what he does.

It's one bloody thread, this artist is fucking hardly talked about here.
Save your hype protestations for the rightful suspects ffs.
Btw I think the prints are a very poor representation of the artists works.

But this guys work is very good and I'll be watching to see how he progresses in the near future. I also have no idea how many prints of Colossus are left from Laz.

Jerome Lagarrigue , by Mirus Gallery Poesia on May 12, 2017 2:34:31 GMT 1, I dont think saying you like an artists work is Hype its just saying again better buy before its gone, get it now, these are amazing there going to be gone, buy before they go up. This is not praise for an artists work. To me there is a difference. Praise is genuine and support of an artist should never be looked down upon.
For me I get that its great to see a new young artist from a Gallery who brought you arguably one of the best painters from our culture, so hoping to get in at an affordable price is great. I love seeing artists pick up steam and get credit where its due. But this board does have a lot of Hype versus simple praise of an artists work. For me I see oil paintings alot and this artist doesnt move me much personally, and also the Rioting scenes are also not as effective as say Kan another artist who I prefer over these. Just my opinion wish all the best for this guy.

Jerome Lagarrigue , by Poesia on May 12, 2017 8:55:22 GMT 1, Wow..... why all the negativity and hatred about Jerome Lagarrigue Mirus Gallery Poesia??? I wouldn't call it hatred, but yes negative could be said for having a different opinion than others who praise him. I see a talented painter with a similar style to so many others traditionally trained artists. I take issue with people actually comparing him to Conor harrington or looking at his subject matter as something fresh and unique. That was why I spoke up or was negative as you say. No hatred though, Im used to seeing painters outside of our genre start to come into the scene because maybe its trending, looking at his past archive of work and resume I wouldn't even put him in the same sentence as Conor. Its not a hate for this particular artist Im just backing up my thoughts with actual critique, if my tone sounds negative its because it gets old watching the same thing continue to happen. But like I said what do I know, Im more interested in Lazarides most recent exhibition from Addam Yekutieli. Thats an exhibition and artist I can get positive about. But I doubt anybody would care to have a conversation about it. Sorry for Hijacking thread to those supporting this artist just being real with everyone. I switched accounts to my personal one also, as these are my views not those of my gallery.
