Do an overnight stay in Hebron, amazing city.

Me and a mate stayed, staying with a lovely Palestinian woman, just off of Shahada(?) Street - she had a room on top of her roof overlooking the City of Hebron. A couple of rooftops away was an Israeli Army Base...

The following morning, about half a dozen of them bowled up - I'd apparently been taking photos of the base (now I've been in the military for ten years and very much know that you don't take photos of bases), as they came up though, I did bag a picture of them and they were royally f+cked off - barely out of nappies giving us a hard time

Hebron is well worth visiting and I'd go again tomorrow - we were also hoping to go to Ramallah but in the end, time was against us.

There are no limits to the number of interesting books you can buy each day.

Hope left a good tip, the lady will probably be constantly harrassed now , scaring some not so wary tourists off

Acknowledged that but taking pictures from the roof of restricted sites ? Just gives them a chance to shut down the business , whole goal of the state is to make life hard so they immigrate to other countries to further their state in land mass

we all know how the state plays to their own rules , twists reports to their own agenda , bases stated a few rooftops away ,obviously they were observing to visit and thought a security issue.
if idf turn up randomly and present the same to a tourist with no army background who becomes scared and leaves negative trip advisor  experience that's one way of a negative impact on the business 

we are safe back at home in the west but may be creating situations for those left behind , fun and exciting as tourists but what may seem insignificant actions by tourists from a safe part of the world may lead to harsh consequences for the palestians , not a regular tourist destination , just think a little

I did not take photos of the base, being ex Military - I know that you don't do this. Which begs the question, if I had - and they'd seen me, why wasn't I then arrested and taken in to the base for questioning? The landlady is very well known to the IDF, she advertises on AirBnB - she has a steady flow of tourists visiting her.

Don't be so naive as think that the IDF don't know nearly every single thing that is going on. We entered via their check-points (into the old city of Hebron) - our faces would have been on all of their Camera/ID systems, no doubt linking back to our entry in to Israel via the airport.

In Hebron (and no doubt other places in Palestine) the IDF can do what the hell they like - the Palestinians have no say or control over anything they do. I has my own experience and posted about it, initially on my IG account and then posted the above piccy here.

If you're worried about this woman's business then don't be, it's already sh1te, as is their day to day lives.

in a hostile country trying to make the best out of their positions  ? dont think they can relate to our lifestyles nor we to theirs but have an understanding..certain people do not have passes to enter certain zones to make extra money needed to enter and work in isreal , opening up homes brings in extra needed funds.$140 average monthly wage? suppose they expect us to understand restrictions but that is their everyday life and normality ?fun thrill seeking tourists , we can spend a few nights and have fun but they are stuck there , have a little thought , but you have none

Not really , As mbw states love life , just occasionally think of how your actions effects others .
Just not a regular tourist destination which with banksy woh situated there is now attracting people that would not really frequent those areas so may be a little thought when visiting is all ?!

Not specific to the landlady just in general to that area , not everyone that visits is up to date or educated in the politics or the recent events in that part of the world , with out commenting is it ok for people to do as they please , just leave them to it ? They are all adults? great response?!

Read the whole thread , many people visit the thread to get information, many would never visit the area if it was not for the bAnksy hotel , many have not got a clue about the everyday life of people in the zones in Palestine , posting here lets people read and then as you say make their own informative choice of what to do , to see , how to act , what is acceptable conduct etc
For a everyday tourist it would not be an issue to go onto a rooftop to take pictures of the wall as a memento ?!
Obviously it can cause issues and posting here lets people know .
Don't worry too much , we can not all think alike , the world would be boring !
