I just have a problem when people here get all "knowy" and slam the artist's work without much thought behind it. However, I don't think Invader puts out a lot of prints in relation to others, so he may not be eating too well! I do think this print would have been really nice on black paper. Me Too ! We have to form, to create a group on facebook against these prints on white ( arch or not ) paper. I have already an hymn : " I see a red POW and I want it printed black "

So I kept Roy, I never like so much Patrick ( even if it's an Irish, English first name ), I would like that my parents called me Philipp ( nothing to see with the Prince lol, apart an old English teacher who, in 1975 was " in loved with me ", because I looked like the Prince Philipp !
Then a great stenciler from Wales, gimme celebirty on facebook , lol ... Avery kind and talentuous man Johnman Spraycan... he puts some stencils of me in some towns of England and sent me his stencils ... And some others " vandals " follow him ( well I won't put all the pics ) , lol :

I'm glad they're doing one colourway per household, and that all four (orange/yellow/blue/pink) are the same price (so I assume same edition size). That way people actually buy the color/image they want instead of trying to play the collector game, buying based on edition size, etc.

I appreciate also how just the fact the work was created by Invader will generate great interest in it. Are there any thoughts on whether the piece is strong, and if so why? Query if there's an underlying idea that's interesting, and if the appeal is more than aesthetic. What I see is a 1980s arcade video game character given a makeover referencing a 1970s album and persona. Is there a connection between the two that makes this cross witty? I'm curious about the relevance of Aladdin Sane and the relation, if any at all, to Pac-Man. Or is the attraction for the most part visual? Maybe this marriage of nostalgic pop-culture iconography is simply intended to be random and amusingly silly โ meaning that, strictly in terms of the idea, it wouldn't make a difference if the Pac-Man ghost were replaced by, say, Q*bert or Donkey Kong. That would be fine. The playfulness I enjoy about Invader would remain present. But there'd be a loss of a certain conceptual purity that I find throughout most of the artist's other work.
