Invader Aladdin Sane Print, by Lroy on Sept 24, 2014 15:15:06 GMT 1, Gold and black has 100% not been sold already. POW do not even have any the prints in hand. Just had a reply after a few emails. That was all it said. And what about the other ones so ? ... Anyway, some prints can be keep under the coat. I know, It happened me one time but I won't say with who. So, If it happened to me - who are far to be a VIp, rather a RIp - , it means that they do it often... Usual practices... Thanks anyway !

Invader Aladdin Sane Print, by Deleted on Sept 24, 2014 15:24:08 GMT 1, These have not been sold yet. Let's try to pocket the POW-rage until after the drop.
Their VIP thing makes perfect sense - they are for people who haven't flipped their art over the past 10 years and stayed loyal. I'm assuming that list has become rather small.

Their VIP thing makes perfect sense - they are for people who haven't flipped their art over the past 10 years and stayed loyal. I'm assuming that list has become rather small. VIP prints have been flipped in the past just not 10 mins after the release, you would be mad to flip one if you were lucky enough to get your hands on a private release edition.
this is exactly what POW said as i was on my phone picking the kids up from school
We have not decided anything yet as the print is not back in our hands
That was it, no more no less. So by the looks of it no sale route has been picked yet. Hopefully a good old fashioned F5 bun fight which i hope i am around for!

Invader Aladdin Sane Print, by Deleted on Sept 24, 2014 15:32:12 GMT 1, Agreed, chrisby. Although judging from the instagram deletion, I'm betting the gold version is the VIP version.
And the money spent factor makes sense since - ideally - people who spend loads of money on originals are less inclined to flip a print for a quick buck. They tend to be more serious collectors. I do know, however, that other factors are definitely considered, and not having spent tons of money is not a bar from the list.
Also the above isn't to say you can't resell a print after years, which is clearly different than flipping.

That would be very weird : "Thank you for helping me out, now you can buy my very expensive complementary print". These VIP prints are for making some extra cash imo. and imo have nothing to do with an artists"friends". I wouldn't charge my friends anything if they helped me.

Just as buying a home and living in it for five years before selling it is not real estate flipping, buying a print and selling it five years later isn't flipping art.

Invader Aladdin Sane Print, by Deleted on Sept 24, 2014 16:34:17 GMT 1, The difference is, Real Estate flipping is involved when you purchase a run down house, put the money into it and sell at a profit. Much different than this scenario, and Id buy a newly renovated house so long as its done right.
This is being fancy on the computer, buying something to simply ebay or sell the exact product for a higher amount because you got it first. Frowned upon. I dont buy from flippers, Lil sneaker culture line standing in d-bags to flip yeezy's on ebay for a profit. Always hated that culture.
Get a job.

I'd say him removing the picture of the gold is a decent sign it will be private sale only. I could be wrong, but that seems logical. The others I'm sure will be sold openly on POW in standard release format.

Invader Aladdin Sane Print, by randomname on Sept 24, 2014 16:48:31 GMT 1, The difference is, Real Estate flipping is involved when you purchase a run down house, put the money into it and sell at a profit. Get a job. That's not always (or even usually) the case. I lived in Las Vegas during the housing bubble. Investors (mostly from LA) were buying up new construction five and ten houses at a time before they were even built. Then selling them before the construction was complete.
Flipping is also very common with condos and lofts. Investors will buy up several units in a building when the project is first launched and resale them quickly for a profit.
The downside is real estate flipping contributes to housing bubbles. When those bubbles burst, real estate flippers stand to lose everything. As they probably should.
