Stik Lovers, by Nick on Jan 21, 2016 20:05:53 GMT 1, Because this ap and a Liberty print are the exact same thing. I fully expected this to be above ยฃ3.5k. You calling a Liberty in that range was why I called hype. Hey Nick , a yellow Liberty just sold for ยฃ7k plus 35% at Phillips auction house . Now what do you say about that ?? Still hype I suggested you were hyping on a previous thread a number of weeks ago, to which you answered on that thread. Now, on a completely seperate thread you've found the need to bring me into conversation, and then quote me again with this. It's getting a bit sad and is probably time for you to move on. You know very well that the 7k auction result is an anomalie, and has zero bearing on his market. A forum member on here managed to sell a CYW at auction a year or so ago for ยฃ28k.. Did anyone else manage to replicate that sales figure? Nope..

Not an anomaly if you happen to have a big collection by the artist as much as I like stik, it was an anomaly.

No normal person would buy a print for double what its worth if it wasn't. I find it hard to believe that a random person who does not know the market for Stik, just bought it for double because his friends said he is big right now or heard he is popular. Just seen this... Some referenced the fact there were no auction results. Now there is and people are moaning. Remember its a printers proof and in an auction with a worldwide audience. People on a forum dont really control a market. It does seem alot to us but what is alot to others. This is so true . Stik is a great guy and maybe like FR said , this was a auction with a worldwide audience . Anyway good luck to the guy .

Stik Lovers, by Deleted on Jan 21, 2016 22:36:55 GMT 1, Time to wade in to this debate.. I've owned pretty much every Stik print over the years and a few originals and now (more fool me) have only a few bits left. Many of the people I sold to were people that had never heard of this forum and I know this because most were off ebay and I met them in person over a coffee. The reality is that even a couple of years ago the prints were incredibly sought after and due to the lack of supply and huge demand this remains the case.
So a couple of wealthy bidders hammering the auction today doesn't surprise me in the slightest. It just seems strange that a guy like Stik gets so much grief from some quarters on here, which is an urban art forum FFS. We should be celebrating a thoroughly top bloke quite literally coming up from the streets. If you don't like the art or believe the price, just scroll on to the next thread.

Hello letiss. Hope all is good with you. I am pleased for stik. I'm delighted that he's getting recognition. I agree he's a lovely bloke too. What I am getting bored with is the constant talk of value, the hyping, and the (mostly) absence of any discussion about the art. I very much doubt that stik himself would consider a thread predominately about the increasing value to be a celebration of his work.

Not at all. I agree with you. That is just as bad. It would be good to try to get this place back to an appreciation of the art, rather than the value.
