Eelus pair of framed prints. Both with coa, both part of the regular original edition, both in excellent conditoN, both framed to conservation standards by Rooq, acid free corners used, nothing actually touching the prints, UV plexi glass, hung in a dark room, each frame measures approx 29.5x37 inches. I have pictures of the prints prior to framing, and anyone that knows Rooq will know they will still look exactly like this if removed.
Only selling as a pair and only selling as a face to face pickup in New York City. $5500

He also haven't been putting out strong work since his heydays, hence I'm not sure if his fan base is dwindling. His IG shows a new print image coming out soon but it seems no one here cares enough already to start a thread. And a WTNFU, supposedly the last in the trio that makes up his most classic series, just sold at close to cost with shipping included if you look on this board. An OG going at well below cost apparently still struggles to sell. Change of times I would say...

But one day he met AR and from there all went down hill.

With all due respect, I'm not so sure we should bash artists like Eelus, Eine and NW that have brought so much amazing work to all of us over the years. I'm also not sure that we should have a "seller can do whatever he/she wants after purchasing a piece" mentality when discussing the appropriateness of flipping, but have negative comments about artists such as Eelus and Eine who choose to re release a piece in an alternative (lenticular) format. I'm not interested in getting into an argument with anyone as we all are entitled to our opinions, I'm just suggesting that NONE of us know why an artist does or doesn't do something and we should maybe give them the benefit of the doubt. Was I excited that E re released NEISBAW? As an owner of the original print not necessarily when I think of it in terms of value, but when I think of it in terms of the actual art and image I was excited as it seems to lend itself perfectly for a lenticular. It also excites me that a few more collectors will be able to add this epic image to their collections. I mean come on...please tell me this forum is more than an investment forum and it's more about the art than the money.

It's sad to see their value wobbling, though I suppose the wobble has allowed me to finally pick up a Neisbaw. His print output has always been a bit inconsistent - for every Shat-At there's a Cheeky Cherub, for every Raven Haired there's a 50ft t**t - but he really needs to put out an absolute stonker fairly soonish. I don't think the forthcoming donkey-cart-thing is going to turn the tide. Still, I think after years of work and some fantastic images, we should be a bit more forgiving if he falters occasionally, or falls in with the wrong crowd for a while.

I agree he has some great work but clearly is motivated by milking every last $$.

I can understand that if you disagree strongly with an artist's politics, or they say or do things that reveal them to be homophobic or misogynistic or racist or somesuch, you might reasonably refuse to buy and display their work. But Eelus has sold some extra PPs of one print, and released a radically different version of another. The former was certainly inadvisable, the latter more debatably so, but given the kind of corporate behaviour widely reported on a daily basis anyone who launches a complete boycott on those grounds must also be refusing to buy so many things they will sooner or later be left with little option but to move into a cave and live off rainwater, foraged nettles and trapped squirrels. |

The reply is too posh for me mate. I thought it was pretty obvious what I was referring to. He's pissed me off cos he re-released an old print for profit so I've lost credibility so don't want to give him my money again. So I won't be buying any of his work in future.
