On behalf of the forum thank your friend for keeping the print out of the hands of someone who would have appreciated it.
I realize that righteous indignation is a favorite pastime for many on the forum, but I really don't think it's warranted in this case.
For starters, my friend (yes, this is actually on behalf of a friend) is clearly not a flipper, otherwise she'd be putting the set up on eBay for $400 and moving on with her day. By way of background, I don't think she owns one other signed/numbered print by any artist. She was just really excited about Ideal Power, in part because she believes strongly in its message. When she got the oversale refund email, she had two options. Get extorted buying it on eBay and in the process support eBay flippers, or buy the Welcome Visitor diptych and then work out a fair trade. I advised her to do the latter. I have zero problem with people buying a print in order to trade it for a different print they really want. In fact, I think it's less worthy of criticism than collectors who buy the prints just to let them sit in their flat file. Perhaps you disagree. Such is life.

That is the cover art Fairey did for Blondie's new album. There is no indication that it has been or will be released as a print.

i had seen this art a few weeks ago and all i could think of is the cropped portrait print.
And i believe it will be one of the less popular prints, allowing us to get easily. 
thats if there is only one signature on it 
I've also seen large billboards of this in the london underground.

Fair enough. Personally I can't get into the train of thought were I would buy a print I didn't like. Your friend obviously isn't a flipper but by buying a print as a monetry item as opposed to a piece of art puts her precariously close to their boat. I have sympathy at the fact she was unable to get the print she really wanted but does creating a knock-on effect by stopping someone from getting this print seem fair? Not to me but again each to their own.
Ultimately if your friend didn't pick this up it probably would have only ended up in a true flippers hands anyway and be available for ยฃ300 on ebay so no real harm done!
Hopefully your friend does find someone willing to trade and if not I look forward to seeing the piece for sale on here at cost price

Agreed. I think the point of a diptych is that there is some separation between them. I'm planning on framing them separately. If I frame them together I'll probably have them float mounted with a 1-2 inch gap between prints.

I'm definitely going to be trying to get a set, and (given that there is a good chance I don't succeed) would be happy to purchase from anyone on the forum who manages to secure a set that they decide they don't want.

I'm guessing it's akin to the black sense of "white".
