Felipe Pantone π¦π· Exhibition News β’ Contemporary Art , by soupy on Sept 4, 2018 15:00:50 GMT 1, amazing to ask someone to drop close to 2K on a print and can't even bother with hi-res detailed pics of the product. may not be as important with some artist release (like the insect) because of simpler style... but this type of image kinda calls for it.

This is true! I donβt really buy prints (very few exceptions) so Iβm not the best source of info, for sure. Iβve always understood it to mean a digital print, computer generated, usually from a photograph of the original. Is that right? Whether this is exactly the same as a giclee, or a giclee is a particular type of pigment print, or vice versa, I do not know.

Felipe Pantone π¦π· Exhibition News β’ Contemporary Art , by met on Sept 4, 2018 21:45:36 GMT 1, What exactly is a pigment print please? Excuse my ignorance but first time I come across this term (I think) Try using Google. Whats the the problem, he's asking an Art question on an Art forum? Jeez this place. And politely, too!
The issue is partly one of etiquette, it would seem.
General position:
Curiosity and inquisitiveness are virtues. Questions should be encouraged. It's how people learn, how they progress.
Qualification to general position:
If the answer to somebody's query can be found on page 1 of a Google (or Ask Jeeves) search result, then perhaps the query should not be posted on the forum.
Doing so can arguably be seen as lazy or selfish. And even disrespectful to fellow members (whether or not the disrespect is intended). It's asking others to carry out work which the questioner themselves can easily do with a minimum of time and effort β if they simply bother to take the first basic steps.
In this case, the questioner has all the resources needed to quickly find their answer. The research means are at their fingertips, both figuratively and literally.
Additional factors worth citing include the desirability that individuals take initiative and be self-reliant.
Does anyone consider the above assessment unfair?
__________
Here's an exaggerated analogy to drum home the point. On a scale of 1 to 10, consider the social acceptability of the following scenario:
coach and I are both in the kitchen. He's sitting at the table reading a newspaper in peace. I'm standing by the sink and I say to him, "Hey, can you help over here for a second?"
Being an accommodating chap, coach puts down his paper and gets up. I then hand him an empty glass and say, "I'm thirsty. Would you mind turning on the tap and filling this with water for me?"
__________
Finally, a broad-brush answer to the question posed by jeeves:
In the context of contemporary fine art β inkjet print = giclΓ©e print = pigment print (or archival pigment print)
They're created from digital files and printed with inkjet printers. Reference to "pigment" is used because the inks now tend to be pigment-based (as opposed to traditional dye-based inks, which on the whole have less colour stability and are less resistant to fading).

Dopey noobs. βοΈβοΈβοΈhey its the 4 star troll following me around, u like me sweet .... eh? π anyway bet u'll be keeping up with me, nice to have met you on the jerkface thread π I wasn't going to respond to this, but it is so laughable I must. Just once, though, if you wish to post more stupidity while suffering from closeted homophobia that's on you.
1 - I posted on the Jerkface thread, to somebody else (another comedian) and you in turn posted a remark to me. I had no interaction with you, didn't know you from Adam, and could care less. I think that makes you the troll, and comments like the above prove it. People like you will be the death of this site.
2 - I joined this site in 2010, and by the site's standards not a heavy poster. Four stars probably comes after 9 years, that would be simple to understand - give it a shot. I certainly wouldn't be trolling you considering my time here, and again if you can improve your reading comprehension you will realize you starting trolling me - project much?
3 - Your comments above - why would you think this is proper discourse on an art forum? I mean, really, who uses a phrase like asscheeks anyway other than a low IQ individual suffering with closeted homophobia, or a 16 year old, or both?
4 - I realize I've used quite a few big words for you, you may want to read two or three times and look up the ones you don't understand.
Cheers!
