Felipe Pantone ๐ฆ๐ท Exhibition News โข Contemporary Art , by gmidd on Jun 6, 2017 15:05:47 GMT 1, They both look fantastic, but I'm definitely leaning black and white. I like the flow of that piece better than the chaos in the color, but would happily take either.
I used to own Noble Awakening and it doesn't even look like it's anywhere close to these in terms of quality. While it is a nice print, it was mostly giclee and these are all screen print plus embossing and spot varnish. Although I do not own one, these definitely seem more comparable to Royal Gene & Ethics in terms of quality.

Felipe Pantone ๐ฆ๐ท Exhibition News โข Contemporary Art , by avec art on Jun 6, 2017 15:46:04 GMT 1, I'm still feeling a slight lack of clarity on process. Feel free to correct me if I'm wrong, but it seems as though the backgrounds have been screen printed and the image itself digitally made (giclee), and then spot varnish screened and also embossed through a press.

still, nice looking print. or rather it would be without the godawful spot varnish.

I just picked up the Gene and Ethics and received it yesterday, what a gigantic beautiful print. I'm assuming the same technique was used on these as they did with Gene and Ethics? Either way, it's an absolutely beautiful print and if I were considering the smaller black and white print from these releases I would reconsider for slightly more and get something equally as stunning, but much much larger. Cannot wait to get this over to the framer and back onto a wall, the Gene and Ethics is definitely a statement piece.

Here's the info Katrin posted on Instagram
"These exclusive new fine art editions by Katrin Fridriks for Avant Arte are faithful to artist's renowned high standards regarding screen print technique and quality. Utilizing peculiar printing and varnishing techniques, as well as the same paint used at her studio, these prints are flawlessly capturing her unmistakable energy and precision.
330gr. somerset enhanced paper, mixed Screen Print technics background metallic color silkscreen, selected high gloss varnish and embossed
Size : 85 x 85 cm (Image Size 77 x 77 cm)
Each Edition : 77 EX - 7 AP"
Unless I'm missing something, it seems pretty clear (minus the misspelling) that it's a screen print. Don't see any mention of giclee or digital anywhere.

These are still going to be pretty large at 85cm x 85cm each, but will fortunately be much cheaper to frame.

i made a similar post yesterday, but felt it was rather churlish i'd applied the statement to only katrin's print.
overnight i had nightmares and paranoiac episodes about it and as a result felt compelled to repost. (insert imbecilic winking smiley here)

is there embossed / raiseed areas in the image or are they referring to an embossed stamp of authenticity on the border?

I'm not to concerned when Coriander Studio handles the printing. I think they printed her Golden Awareness print as well

(insert imbecilic winking smiley here) Is there another method that can be used to get the same effect? I understand that from different glances it becomes saturated in the areas that have the varnish, however I think to really capture the thickness of the paint that makes her pieces so amazing it is needed and when looking straight on makes the picture that much more memorizing. I'm not incredibly familiar with printing processes, so I guess my question is, what type of embossed, printing process would give a print the same thickness that is raised off the paper without it just being an original.

Felipe Pantone ๐ฆ๐ท Exhibition News โข Contemporary Art , by nighthawk on Jun 6, 2017 17:12:58 GMT 1, The price! The quality! The edition size! Omg people, do your homework!
In 2012 Katrin released Golden Awareness N1:
Shockingly, the print was a silkscreen and inkjet edition print on paper, embossed, and glazed!! Edition of 70, with the size almost identical at 80x80. But cost was $1350USD!!!
And then there's this one released through POW also in 2012:
โGolden Awarenessโ, an edition of 77, it measures 96 x 66cm (roughly the same size), 14 colour hand pulled screen print on Somerset Tub Sized Satin 410 gsm, and was $900USD.
So taking both of those into account (her only prints besides NA, and Royal G&E BTW) I'd say these are looking might fine!
Just my 2cents on the matter...

I won't make predictions about her longevity, although I do not think she is in the same category as Maya Hayuk, and can think of many artists who did not change their process in their life without his affecting their career or being a statement about their talent as an artist....
I do agree however that the price point is mighty high for what it is, especially given the fact that the exact process used is still very unclear (the close ups look great, i get that "a lot of work went into this", but as has been mentioned it would be great to know exactly how it was made)
