Bonhams Prints and Multiples 27th June, by Shoot Again on Jun 27, 2017 15:52:56 GMT 1, Based on the condition of that one (which I've inspected myself) this one is certainly NOT the right candidate to break any record at all ;-( There is always someone who doesn't care about the condition ( it feels that this group is actually growing! ) Only ยฃ52K hammer (~ ยฃ67K all in) ... not worth any more than that for sure ! ;-)

Usually hammer plus 35% is what the buyer pays.

Bonhams Prints and Multiples 27th June, by Eton Groover on Jun 27, 2017 17:00:05 GMT 1, Oh yeah, don't forget that bit, and this added on, and the other... No getting away from the fact that these results are a long way from "forum valuations" Remember that the seller only gets the hammer price less around 15-20% Remember that next time someone wants ยฃ25k for a print on here

Bonhams Prints and Multiples 27th June, by Unica on Jun 27, 2017 17:06:50 GMT 1, I would think that close to ยฃ16k for a coloured soup can, especially one in that not very attractive colourway is a pretty good result. And I do think the condition hurt the GWB.

I wouldn't be surprised if some of these prints have seen the inside of more sale rooms than Dot Cottons smoked fags.

No getting away from the fact that these results are a long way from "forum valuations" Remember that the seller only gets the hammer price less around 15-20% Remember that next time someone wants ยฃ25k for a print on here Regardless what the seller ends up with. Why are people so quick to dismiss all these fee as not being apart of the value of the print. These are real costs paid by the buyer to acquire the print. If there were no fees, taxes, ARR, etc... the hammer price would ultimately be higher.
The seller is paying the auction house for a service (Selling a print can be a pain in the ass). If the seller wants to find a buyer and sells it independently, he should be rewarded for doing the work himself.

Bonhams Prints and Multiples 27th June, by Pattycakes on Jun 27, 2017 18:36:12 GMT 1, Really very disappointing results but then Bonham's print sale really isn't the place to put up post-war or Banksy prints anyway so I'm not exactly surprised. They did 0 marketing for the sale, and I know of a number of very serious dealers who didn't even receive a catalogue for the sale.

Bonhams Prints and Multiples 27th June, by Deleted on Jun 27, 2017 18:49:51 GMT 1, Ouch to the sellers,

They really do need to sort this out before Bonhams close yet another department
they are quickly becoming the poor boy
i would be seriously pissed as a seller

Bonhams Prints and Multiples 27th June, by lobster on Jun 27, 2017 20:21:49 GMT 1, Hmmm ... Or another theory is of course that Banksy prices are indeed " softening " to some degree and the recent price rises weren't sustainable ??
The two recent prints in the Philips sale didn't exactly " set the world alight " or did they forget to send " serious dealers " catalogues as well ??!!?!

Bonhams Prints and Multiples 27th June, by Pattycakes on Jun 27, 2017 20:35:44 GMT 1, No Phillips are always on point when it comes to sending out catalogues, that said I felt their recent sale was a little lacklustre to be honest, compared to the barnstormer they had in January.
Bonham's have I think been massively cutting costs and usually first to go are the catalogues, which is bloody stupid when they are possibly the most useful marketing tool an auction house has.

Really? Poor excuse for soft results. I wouldn't consider myself to be a serious buyer but it doesn't take a lot to sign up to Bonhams mailing list, checking sources for when auctions are on, etc. Serious dealers really shouldn't need Bonhams to tell them there's a sale coming up. It's their business to know!

Bonhams Prints and Multiples 27th June, by Hubble Bubble on Jun 27, 2017 21:52:28 GMT 1, Can't fix the UV damage.
The ripples don't look right (curved) and appear on the backing board so I don't think they're on the print. Probably a photo resolution issue.

Agreed re resolution but print is wavey nether the less. Uv damage is horrid.

Wavy wouldn't worry me so much. If I'd been locked behind that mount for 13 years, I think I'd be a bit wavy on release.

Anyone serious about art, especially dealers, are well aware of upcoming sales from major auction houses. Hell, even as a relative peasant, I see Banksy lots in various auctions from lower tier houses that don't even get discussed here.
