Why do auction houses still stage these at the moment? Why not give the market a breather for a bit?

I’d imagine the owners of the ones that didn’t sell are delighted given the prices of the ones that did.

Show me where a red Choose Your Weapon sold for over $300k? Two years ago you could of bought a Choose Your Weapon red for $80k. That Choose Your Weapon yesterday cost the buyer close to $200k. If sellers want top $ then maybe best not to sell at auction and do a private sale, these auctions are making it far too easy to buy these prints and hence prices have corrected. Forum won't stop though.

Many of these sellers at auction have probably bought before the big rise in prices, I expect they aren't too bothered that they didn't time the market exactly. That's a pretty hard thing to do, you'd have cause for concern if you bought in the last year but I expect those who did were buying to hold.

I think it’s possible his prints have found their level. Still expensive but they needed to peak before settling.

I heard that the love is in the bin sale was considered by many in the art world to be orchestrated and tacky. Banksy needs to do a decent show or event to fire up his market.

Will we be seeing the next auction of his prints selling far higher off the back of that massive 18m result. I don’t personally think so. I do think a great show or event of new works might have a positive effect on his print prices.

Pest control really have acted really out of sorts this year, including not answering questions that won't go away.

Let's hope he can pull it up with a show, the forum auctions have been disappointing.

On 14 December there is yet another Forum Auctions Banksy Only Sale.

In truth I am struggling to see why they, and the other auction houses, are persisting with a format that is no longer working? A mix of unsigned and signed together does not work anymore due to over supply. It certainly appears results are historically better when Banksy is mixed together with other artists and positioned in catalogues with similar priced works, as had always previously been the case before the glut of Banksy only auctions.

This time there are 13 lots up for auction of which 5 of those lots passed last month. Logic would suggest that rather than keep trying to flog the same old pieces, in the same old dry format they would try and innovate? Everyone knows that those pieces passed last month, what is going to happen this month to change the bidders mind? In truth little as most bidders will keep their hands down and try to deal afterwards to get a bargain!! (Yes guilty as charged on a number of occasions) 

Forum, who I do like I should add, do have 4 interesting pieces to sell. A hand finished (gifted) chocolate donuts (a strawberry non gift one sold in December 2020), a Magenta CYW, a lime CYW and a grey CYW.

Having 3 CYW's up for auction may seem a coup but as a seller I would now be severely worried after they failed to auction the Khaki one last month. It seems too many for one session especially against the other significantly lower priced other items?

Am I alone in thinking this is just plain laziness from the auction houses who have some what killed the goose who had been laying the golden eggs for them?

Just my personal view, but I'll put my hard hat on and wait for all the doom sayers telling us that Banksy prints aren't worth anything and thats the problem, haha!!!

I am a buyer!! 

I am not a seller and have never worried about the value save for insurance...but the sellers need to see a good exit so that the more interesting pieces come out rather than the same poor quality unsigned ones as has been the case for the back end of this year.

It is a fair point for buyers, as I have consistently said until supply dry ups!
