Probably more to do with it being a tax write off in a few countries than kindness

Invader RVE Repetition Variation Evolution Print, by Deleted on Dec 12, 2017 14:55:50 GMT 1, seems like a great price, but didnt you have an offer higher than this in your last thread? was it 3400 ? I did indeed ... 6 offers in fact, but not one that came to fruition So you mean you didn't get any offers above 2500
Still a good flip tho

Invader RVE Repetition Variation Evolution Print, by ben3486 on Jan 7, 2018 3:23:07 GMT 1, So myself, for example, who has one en suite room, with only one big wall free for hanging art, one wall that is built in cupboards, one that has small amount of space either side of a window and one that has two doors in.....and the rest of my collection that I literally have no space for currently and is in tubes and a folder.... im a flipper ? because I cant frame and hang my artย I look forward to seeing your "below market price" sales threadsย So, legit question: why did you buy all this stuff if you are never going to be able to enjoy it on the walls?ย
Late reply but ....Just because I donโt have the wall space at the minute why shouldnโt I buy at cost and store until I can display? Rather than admire from afar and pay inflated secondary prices! Make sense in my head but each to their own.

Invader RVE Repetition Variation Evolution Print, by mrbagel on Jan 7, 2018 16:19:52 GMT 1, Think it was an Invader For Sale thread. Lol I think many people โcollectโ art, simply because they like the art. I know I do! I have a nice โcollectionโ of art that I look at regularly; does that make me a hoarder? I reckon a few points sums all of this up:
1. I think a lot of folks have their art in portfolios in addition to (or instead of) their walls. So walls specifically isn't necessarily the issue.
2. I'd say the flipper market is annoying for most straight after launch as it creates a false and immediate secondary market; if the price offered by the artist is well below market value (which creates the flipper market in the first place), the intention is probably to make the price affordable for collectors and fans, so the increase is just lining the pocket of the capitalist.
3. A longer term speculator might be considered a flipper too, but it's obviously difficult to pinpoint by this time. The secondary market is then well established and the flipper will have also taken on a lot of risk by holding on to the print for sometime. Markets can change as can be seen around this forum, and even things like Lowry drawings have slowed over time compared with signed prints.
4. Regarding the longer term view; I don't think anyone who has kept the art in a tube for longer than a few months can really be considered a 'collector' since the art is not being cared for properly. Just my opinion of course.

Invader RVE Repetition Variation Evolution Print, by Jaylove on Jan 7, 2018 17:07:27 GMT 1, For me if youโre not framing youโre flipping unless you sell below current market value. If you donโt frame it you bought it as an investment I think it's about intent. If you buy with the intent to frame and put it on your wall, then I wouldn't consider someone a flipper. Flippers are buying strictly for resell.
I have some art in tubes that I intend on framing but there's a queue. If you keep buying new art the framing queue gets bigger. Not all prints are going to get framed. So you gotta sell em and let them go to someone else who wants one at a reasonable markup.

Invader RVE Repetition Variation Evolution Print, by bjoern on Jan 7, 2018 17:44:31 GMT 1, Made a little research regarding an RVE print and came up that the ones listed for 3k + are not selling at all. Think the crazy hype prices due to some galleries last summer are over.
What do you think is a fair valuation at the moment? I would say something around 2.5k - just my personal opinion.

Considering last sold under a month ago on ebay for 3.1k pound + ship from a seller with 1 pic, and 1 stock pic, I'd say you're stretching it.. tbh I think it could've reached 3.5k+ with proper pics, I sure wouldn't buy off his single pic.. prior piece sold for best offer, so unsure ive definitely seen 3.5k sales recently. I wouldn't sell mine for that at all..
I wouldn't say prices are "over" either. This piece dropped right after he cooled off imo. Still see older Invader pieces moving above 10k
This is recent, and a love or hate print .. imo it's got enough fans to keep pricing up, in fact I think it'll rise over time as u just don't see many that aren't framed yet .. tough call, but at 2.5k pound I'd buy another and frame it to lol, I can't see that happening

Your 1st point is absolutely accurate. You can collect art, and store it/display it as you wish. Again, I have bought many prints to simply โseeโ as I love the art. If I end up framing it, great! If not, I still appreciate the art...simple as that.
The whole bit about the โflipperโ, secondary market, and โspeculatorsโ isnโt what I was talking about. Thatโs an entirely different topic. I was simply stating that to qualify people who buy art as either hoarders or flippers, is a bit ignorant (IMO).
Maybe this place has tainted peopleโs perceptions, and the beauty of โcollectingโ is lost on most.

Invader RVE Repetition Variation Evolution Print, by Matt on Jan 8, 2018 0:06:25 GMT 1, Lol another personal opinion from a would be purchaser trying to dumb down the market, sure if you had one to sell it would be worth every penny of 5k.. I own a ton of Invader, so talking down the market is not in my interest, but I would still say that all the available data seems to point towards the fact that RVE is barely fetching 3k (Unsold here at 3450, Unsold on eBay at 3000 for now).
Barely any Invader prints that I can see have sold over 5K in the last few weeks.
Prices went too high too fast. Market has massively cooled down (although still higher than pre 2017).
That said Invader is doing well, OTI is doing a great job, auction prices for good pieces are strong, and these prints will rise again, this time more naturally I hope
