I gathered, that Perrotin only would have prints available that didn't sell out at Complexcon... but people are reporting that the prints sold out... I'll wait it out and hope a few hit Perrotin anyway, as I find it rather crazy if they actually sold 900(!) prints out at Complexcon, buuuut if the right offer comes up I'll jump on it, I don't min paying a little bit of a premium for the hassle of waiting in line at Complexcon... even though the few that are available on eBay are crazy overpriced at the moment.

Not saying this guy does or doesn't but talent seems to not be that high on the list in what's hot or not in the art world.
is this guy really a talent? It's not about talent though. Kinda reminds me of the rap game. If you have the right people behind you, the right budget, the right producers, the right marketing team, you could blow up without having actual talent. They are lithos, standard Murakami ones. The main colorway was called โCanvasโ because it was based on the original canvas painting. I havenโt cracked mine open yet but there are a few good pics on eBay it seems.

The Madsaki prints are silkscreens. Murakami silkscreens have margins and typically runs of 50 or 100. The "standard" Murakami prints (editions of 300) are offsets. |

I'm crossing my fingers and hoping to get all 3 variants of the original canvas edition.

There is only a single 100 limited edition print run of each variant. Complexcon, Oz Zingaro (Tokyo) and Perrotin each have a part of each edition--maybe around 25 to 30 out of 100 prints per edition for each venue. I don't know exactly what part of the run each venue has, but the Complexcon share seems to run from the 20s to the 40s (as evidenced on Ebay); the Oz Zingaro share from the 60s to the 80s (from observation); and I imagine that the Perrotin share runs between the 40s and the 60s. The Complexcon prints were $600 usd +10.25% sales tax, and Oz Zingaro editions were 76,700 yen each.
Additionally, Oz Zingaro exclusively sold around 80 prints out of a 100 limited edition run of a fourth color way, Black Lamรฉ/Pink. The Oz sale announcement is here: oz-zingaro.jp/2017/12/list201/.

Disagree. Seem very little foresight in production. And yet foresight becones the sellibg point. All in all a bit disturbing

is this guy really a talent? Yes and no. The idea is simple enough just make bad quick versions of well know artists art, on the other hand when he takes his time he does have skill. It's not my cup of tea though. |
