Madsaki ๐ฏ๐ต New Print Release โข Exhibition News , by Express Post on Sept 7, 2018 7:59:15 GMT 1, From the video he's just another artist making paintings his way and being humble about the attention. What was very human was struggling with zero gallery attention, and on the verge of quitting painting. Then Murakami entered the scene.
The hype has more to do with the kaikai kiki machine that goes on behind the scenes. That thing is a beast.
Show looks great, looks like he busted his balls to pump out that many paintings.
this is an over hyped "artist". crazy. imo

Yeah was surprised by how many pieces on show for this theme - must have been flat out.
Would love to see him release a proper print, good size and image. The murakami collab and flag didn't do it for me

Madsaki ๐ฏ๐ต New Print Release โข Exhibition News , by Express Post on Sept 7, 2018 23:50:29 GMT 1, His painting style means that his pictures can be hit and miss for me.
His style is renegade, he did everything he was told not to do back at school. But he believed in it and pushed through.
I admire the courage.

Madsaki ๐ฏ๐ต New Print Release โข Exhibition News , by thomasmer on Sept 27, 2018 13:19:17 GMT 1, Prints now available online. Starting at ยฃ750. Went to see his show in Bangkok, best I've seen in a while. You're going to have to explain to me what was so good about this show? It appears to be in a badly lit shopping mall, and consist of some badly painted copies of other peoples work.

Madsaki ๐ฏ๐ต New Print Release โข Exhibition News , by pada1 on Oct 8, 2018 14:18:22 GMT 1, I am not a fan of Madsaki.
While some of his previous work could be appealing (his paintings of famous people with such simple faces are somehow mesmerising), his last exhibition is underwhelming at best. Even looking at the message written, it feels like an imported fade hype of social media. A snapshot of instagram and discussion in the queue of a Supreme release.

Madsaki ๐ฏ๐ต New Print Release โข Exhibition News , by kuni on Oct 8, 2018 17:16:59 GMT 1, I would seriously like to know what fans of Madsaki's find so amazing and moving about his work...especially the above posted "Madsucky wuz here" show.
Admittedly, I do enjoy his reworks of the famous paintings, but then see the text paintings and am just at a total loss. Take a quick peek at the comments on his IG - it's one "FIREEEE!" and "SO SICK!!!" after another.

Madsaki ๐ฏ๐ต New Print Release โข Exhibition News , by luffy06 on Oct 8, 2018 20:03:52 GMT 1, He's supported by Murakami and Perrotin so there's a lot of hype. What he does has been done hundreds of time, nothing new, I understand it can appeal to people but nothing memorable there.
And I wanted to share this lazy pic from some screenprints I have by Daeyeworld from a long time ago, so really nothing new.

Madsaki ๐ฏ๐ต New Print Release โข Exhibition News , by eric0713 on Oct 12, 2018 4:52:00 GMT 1, I am a big fan of Madsaki and I have been collecting his works since 2014. Understand that different people may have different tastes, but to me, I like his works because of his humorous, honesty and passion. Back to 2013/ 14 when he started to paint his word series, he put phrases, jokes and stupid words on his works. When I first saw that, I was like "WTF is that? They look S**T!" But after when I read the titles of the works, they seems make some senses to me and I see black humour, anger and sth deep inside his mind. (Actually there are layers in his works when see the real thing too) Then in 2015, he moved on and started working on the Wannabie's series. In the Wannabie's show, every works are spray-painted so fine and detail, it was amazed, all the works are totally different from his previous sloppy word series. And again, you may find his humorous when combining his works with the titles. That was before Murakami saw his work (Matisse) from IG. (Even the Wannabie's series, he tried different style too) To many people, his work is only about copying the masterpieces and put dripping eyes on it, but it is more than that. I recommended to understand more about his works by reading the titles and interviews of him and you may find more stories behind his Wifey series, Pearl Harbour....etc. Cheers
*And for the latest show "Madsucky wuz here", It is kind of like back to what he did in 2013/ 14 when he started his word series, when he has chance to do his solo show. It is something different for new Madsaki audience, but that was him and that was what he did years ago. More information may find here: en.gallery-kaikaikiki.com

Sometimes I find his stuff appealing, like wife and the Picasso and Van Gogh self portraits, but these words are difficult to appreciate. The emoji are a cool idea. Limitless fun right there, and relevant in this digital age.

Madsaki ๐ฏ๐ต New Print Release โข Exhibition News , by eric0713 on Oct 12, 2018 8:01:11 GMT 1, Here is another example of Madsaki's works in 2015, and they are one of my favourite, I call them the BLACK series. 4 big paintings all in Black, totally black, signed.
The story behind these 4 black canvas is....
A gallery asked him to do a show in 2015, and they told him that he can paint whatever he wanted to. So Madsaki painted these 4 work with the words "Pearl Harbour" "Fuck You" "Little Boy Fat Man" and "Go home Japs". After the gallery reviewed them, they thought these are too aggressive to show. They asked him to bring the works back and re-painted them. Madsaki was upset and he paint them all in black and changed the show title to Censorship.
And when you see the title of these works, they were actually the bad memories when he got bullied from high school. "Pearl Harbour" - This is not my name Pearl Harbour "Fuck You" - English as second language "Go Home Japs" - Cheerleader "Little Boy Fat Man" - Some Kinda Relationship Again, to me, his work is not only about copying the masterpieces n dripping eyes.... but the little story behind. cheers
