Hotel will stay open after February so wouldn’t rush to get one as an open will be sold as long as the hotel is open.
Not all guests are buying prints so is now picking up business just as meant to be without the gimmick of the prints to attract new visitors.
Hopefully release the lion and lamb print next
They’re priced as to get more people to the hotel .

I am realistic about what they are and how many are being flogged. A firm believer of supply vs demand I accept the current market price.
But ultimately you need to ask, why did they start releasing them? They wanted more traffic coming through the hotel and visiting the region. Having stayed there before and after they started releasing items in the gift shop, it's WAY busier now. Job done. Tour buses full of the blue-rinsed brigade now turn up with guides taking them through the foyer, taking iPad photos all over the place.
They can't buy the prints obviously, but surely the demand from collectors and profiteers will eventually dry up.
What then?
If I were in charge (who is in charge of the gift shop anyway?), I'd look to cut production of the Box Set eventually and release something else. Rinse/repeat, watch the same customers roll in. They will come.
So are they really genuinely unlimited? Who knows. I've got basically no downside and no interest to sell so I just enjoy the conversation.

Yes, it probably will be open a bit longer.. I've heard lately that the Box Set will be gone in January and be replaced by another souvenir, so I am not sure if it is really "unlimited".
But who knows.

It is long, very humiliating, and stressing process. And this was at 4am in the morning.. They make you "pay" for going there.
They can release as many prints as they want, I'm done.

Very strange that the hotel would have sent a “Palestine” plate car.
What you describe is indeed the plight of many such drivers crossing that checkpoint to Ben Gurion

We had a similar experience on our second trip. The first time I had booked a night in Tel Aviv so avoided these kind of issues.
But if coming straight from the hotel, you should say that you came from Jerusalem and even mention a hotel there. Do NOT say Bethlehem.
In fact, if you can't stay in Tel Aviv before your flight my advice is to co-ordinate your story with the driver as you are heading to the airport.
We pulled up at the initial gate not expecting to be questioned given our first experience. Our driver had a conversation with the guard, and my partner thought he mentioned Bethlehem.
Not wanting to contradict him, when we were asked where we came from she proudly exclaimed "Bethlehem!".
We had our passports taken off us and the car had to pull over to the side of the road. After a while, another guard came up, asked me to open the boot of the car and asked me some questions.
Where did you come from? (Bethlehem)
Did you visit Ramallah? (No)
Did you pack your own bags? (Yes)
Did the driver take the bags to the car or did you? (We did)
That was it. We were allowed to go through to the airport. The driver wasn't overly impressed. I think they put a sticker in his ID card - not a permanent black mark as such, but he didn't need the hassle.
Once in the airport we had absolutely no issues, but we did feel for the driver.
That said, we did wish he helped us help him a bit more.
Do yourselves a favour. Spend a night in Tel Aviv before you fly out. It's worth it.

After a while, another guard came up, asked me to open the boot of the car and asked me some questions. Where did you come from? (Bethlehem) Did you visit Ramallah? (No) Did you pack your own bags? (Yes) Did the driver take the bags to the car or did you? (We did) That was it. We were allowed to go through to the airport. The driver wasn't overly impressed. I think they put a sticker in his ID card - not a permanent black mark as such, but he didn't need the hassle. Once in the airport we had absolutely no issues, but we did feel for the driver. That said, we did wish he helped us help him a bit more. Do yourselves a favour. Spend a night in Tel Aviv before you fly out. It's worth it. |

And from a "safety" point of view, I felt less safe in Marrakesh than I ever did in Bethlehem.

When you're being brought back to the airport by one of the hotel taxi, as they have a Palestinian registration number, the Israeli security immediately puts you aside and search you thoughtfully. It is long, very humiliating, and stressing process. And this was at 4am in the morning.. They make you "pay" for going there. They can release as many prints as they want, I'm done.
