Banksy โข Sale Ends Today, by Deleted on Oct 15, 2020 16:54:55 GMT 1, Genuinely curious about this. If someone or another gallery finds a buyer, takes a cut and you end up getting your full asking price for the piece isn't that the end goal regardless? Theoretically, yeah but it never works like that. The other gallery always get in contact (usually under another name) and try tirelessly to hammer down the price, and their buyer is often talking to us as well, saying that X gallery has this print too, which creates the illusion that thereโs more out there than there actually is. If a gallery contacts us direct, says they have a buyer etc... then weโre more than happy to work with them. Anyway, this seems to have stirred up quite a discussion. To be honest, I havenโt really seen the community aspect of this forum for a good while, but in future if we decide to post something for sale here, Iโll make sure to include a price. I see. Thanks for clarifying and getting back to me. Was always curious about this but can see why that could cause issues

Thanks for clarifying and getting back to me. Was always curious about this but can see why that could cause issues The other aspect is, the third party offers a work endlessly on the secondary market at inflated prices, the work does not sell and eventually becomes devalued in terms of its actual market value. Obviously not applicable in the current Banksy market which is spiralling upwards. But imagine they take an original that a gallery is selling from an artist that is becoming popular and doing reasonable well. They establish the asking price from the gallery and then try to sell it for twice the price to their network of contacts. They overestimate the popularity and the work does not sell. This can have a dramatic effect on the value of the piece and indeed the artists work in general, depending on the number of people they have offered it to, the number of times they have offered it and the sudden dramatic reduced offers they make in a desperate attempt to make a cut.

Banksy โข Sale Ends Today, by Moniker Projects on Oct 15, 2020 17:35:02 GMT 1, I see. Thanks for clarifying and getting back to me. Was always curious about this but can see why that could cause issues The other aspect is, the third party offers a work endlessly on the secondary market at inflated prices, the work does not sell and eventually becomes devalued in terms of its actual market value.ย Obviously not applicable in the current Banksy market which is spiralling upwards.ย But imagine they take an original that a gallery is selling from an artist that is becoming popular and doing reasonable well.ย They establish the asking price from the gallery and then try to sell it for twice the price to their network of contacts.ย They overestimate the popularity and the work does not sell.ย This can have a dramatic effect on the value of the piece and indeed the artists work in general, depending on the number of people they have offered it to, the number of times they have offered it and the sudden dramatic reduced offers they make in a desperate attempt to make a cut.ย ย ย
And finally, if the third-party gallery does manage to agree a price with the buyer, the likelihood is that they want to see it in person first before transferring cash. But that gallery doesnโt own the work, weโre not releasing it without payment as we think weโre talking to a regular customer, and it becomes a big old mess.
So by having POA, it just makes it a bit easier in dealing with everything direct and knowing who has access to what information. However, I can see how it doesnโt come across great on here, so for that I apologise.

Banksy โข Sale Ends Today, by woodman on Oct 15, 2020 17:53:31 GMT 1, Pistol is not Moniker Projects. For some reason, they have decided to contact us, find out the information, and then post it on this thread. If Iโd have wanted to disclose the price to everyone, I would have done so myself. Iโve explained on here before when the question was previously raised, but the reason we have POA is so that we can have a conversation about the artwork, and also keep an eye on who is receiving this information. Iโve had situations before when other galleries find out our price, whack 10% on top, and try and sell our stock without our knowledge or permission. Iโve recently even had a situation when a gallery was trying to sell me an original work we already owned.
Edit - Forget that, I have just got to the bottom of the thread!

Funny you mention that. All this talk about transparency, but this forum largely consists of people with made up usernames, people covering numbers on prints for sale, secondary or tertiary accounts designed to create false sales, outright scams, etc. It's one of the most opaque forums I visit.

Banksy โข Sale Ends Today, by uncle on Nov 25, 2020 15:55:23 GMT 1, Hi all,
I've decided I'm going to sell my Sale Ends v2.
Its absolutely mint, never framed, stored flat in a Selwins sleeve since purchase. I have the COA and email provenance for the lottery win and purchase etc.
Looking at previous sales threads and auction results, I'm asking for ยฃ50-55k.
I'm based in London and would prefer a pick-up in person. I will ship anywhere, but buyer has to pay full shipping including insurance - ideally by Flight Logistics.
Feel free to comment here, but please try not to derail the thread if you can help it.
I've bought and sold a few large and small items off here in the past and can provide references etc. Further pics available via PM.
Cheers, Uncle ย
